ARTIFICIAL HUMAN NUMBER 17
Home Planet: Earth
Race: Organic Artificial Human
Fusions: Super 17 (comines with Dr. Myuu's Number 17)
Appearances: Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT

Number 17, one of the Red Ribbon Army's Artificial Humans created by Dr. Gero for revenge against Son Goku, is the brother of Number 18. They were twins who were kidnapped by Dr. Gero and turned into Artificial Humans. Though they no longer remember their human lives, they both hate Dr. Gero, and Number 17 is the one who, in both timelines, kills him.

Where Number 18 is a lot like your typical girl, Number 17 is just as much your typical guy. He likes off-roading, he seems to think he's pretty tough, and he enjoys fighting. It's pretty easy to see him kicking back for a Sunday afternoon of football or something, and where Number 18 can't understand what he likes so much about driving through the woods, Number 17 doesn't really know what the big deal is with clothes.

After Dr. Gero is killed and the three Artificial Humans run off together, Number 17 basically just stands around with Number 16 to watch while Number 18 fights Vegeta. When Trunks, followed by everyone else, jumps into the battle, Number 17 puts a stop to their interference and proves to be much stronger than his counterpart in Trunks' timeline.

After the battle, the Artificial Humans run off and steal a van, then go on a nice little road trip to Mt. Paozu. While they're driving, Cell arrives, but it'll still be a while before he meets any of them, and so nothing really happens for a while. When they find Mt. Paozu empty, they head to Kame House, where Piccolo challenges them.

Number 17 and Piccolo fight for a while and Piccolo proves to be a surprisingly difficult opponent. They look like they're more or less evenly matched up. Then Cell arrives and they take him on together. Piccolo's neck is broken and he's believed dead, and then Number 17 gets beaten up for a while. Number 16 steps in, but only proves to be bothersome, rather than a total hindrance, to Cell. He eventually manages to absorb Number 17 despite the resistance.

Then Number 17 sits around inside Cell for a while. Unlike Number 18, he isn't regurgitated at the Cell Game and remains inside right until the end. When Cell self-destructs, Number 17 goes with him. However, after Gohan beats Cell and everyone goes to God's Palace, Number 17 is revived by the wish to resurrect everyone killed by Cell. Number 17 goes off to live in the forest and only makes one appearance, very briefly, to give his energy to Son Goku when the Genki Dama is being gathered to drop on Majin Buu.

In DBGT, Number 17 shows up once more and becomes evil again. He joins up with a second Number 17 made by Dr. Myuu, who also created Bebi, and together, they become Super 17. Super 17 proves bothersome for Son Goku, but as always, he pulls through anyway and all is well again. That marks the end of Number 17's involvement in the series.
