TRUNKS
Home Planet: Earth
Race: Half Saiya-jin/Half Human
Fusions: Gotenks, with Goten via Fusion Dance
Appearances: Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT

Trunks Briefs, the purple-haired half Saiya-jin, half human, begot from Bulma and Vegeta. Trunks first makes his first appearance in Dragon Ball Z when Robotic Freeza and King Cold come to destroy Earth. Trunks easily kills both of the amazingly powerful villains without breaking so much as a sweat.

Baffling all of the Z Warriors, Trunks told them when and where exactly Goku would land from his trip back from Namek. Goku's ship impacted with the Earth exactly the time Trunks had predicted. Testing Goku to make sure he's the real thing, and finding out that he in fact was the real life Goku, Trunks takes him out of the hearing range of the Z Warriors and tells him a story.

Trunks is from the future, where two amazingly powerful Artificial Humans run rampant. Goku died of a heart disease and all the heroes have been killed by the Artificial Humans except for himself, and he was sent back in time by his mother, Bulma. However, he didn't only come to warn them of the Artificial Humans that would appear in three years - he also came to see his father, Vegeta, for the first time.

After that he gives Goku the cure to the heart disease he'll suffer in three years, then leaves them, returning to the future. He assures them that he, too, will return in three years as well.

Three years pass. However, when Trunks traveled back in time, he bascially "created" another identical time coil. And just as the first Trunks was about to get into his time machine and head back to help the Z Warriors, he was killed by a monster named Cell, who stole the spaceship, went back in time, and planted himself in the ground.

However, the second Trunks wasn't killed and came back to help the Z Warriors. They find the Artificial Humans in the underground labrotory where they were brooding. However, despite desperate pleads by Trunks, he cannot persuade Vegeta to kill the Artificial Humans while they're still vulnerable. Vegeta wants a chance to fight to test his new Super Saiya-jin skills.

During the battle with the Artificial Humans that followed, however, the Artificial Humans (which there were actually 3 in this time coil) took a shot at Bulma and Chibi-Trunks, who were spectating in a space ship. Trunks saves them, then confronts Vegeta, enraged that he didn't attempt to save his wife or child.

Vegeta pushes Trunks aside and chases after the Artificial Humans, while Bulma realizes that the handsome teenager that just saved her and her child's lives was her son from the future.. However, Vegeta easily defeated, and the heroes are forced to come up with a new plan. Vegeta learns that Trunks is his son, but still doesn't care much for him.

They decide to train in the Room of Spirit and Time, a pair going in and training for a day, which is actually a year in the Room of Spirit and Time. Vegeta and Trunks head in first as father and son, and come out the next day. Trunks' hair has grown, and Vegeta explains that its because he's not a fullbred Saiya-jin.

However, Vegeta's feelings for Trunks still haven't obviously change. The rest of the heroes train. However, Cell, the monster that killed one of the Trunks, has come back, absorbed two of the Artificial Humans, and proposed a tournament.

While Vegeta and Trunks' powers have both grown massively, Trunks is still stronger, havng even reached Super Saiya-jin level 2, but tries to hide it so Vegeta won't know. He's quite aware of his father's amazingly huge ego and doesn't want to make him angry.

Trunks basically watches Goku and Gohan fight Cell until the Cell Juniors are released. While Trunks and Vegeta are basically the only ones who stand a chance, they don't do that much good.

Cell self-destructs, killing Goku. However, from a pile of rubble a blast of ki erupts and blows straight through Trunks. Trunks died before he hit the ground. Vegeta became enraged, even though it did no good, and attempted to attack Cell, showing he really did care for his son.

The next thing Trunks knows, he's sitting up in Kamisama's (or Dende's, as it was currently) Lookout after recently being ressurrected. He bids everyone farewell, thanking them all for everything they've done, then departs back to his own time in his time machine.

He arrives at his time, easily kills the two evil Artificial Humans (even thuogh the Artificial Humans back in all the heroes time coil have turned good) and also kills Cell quite easily, who was waiting to ambush him in the time machine. Peace has finally returned to his native time coil and he can live in peace with his beloved mother.

Back to the main timeline, where Trunks is still a baby. Seven years pass, and Trunks grows up with Goten, Goku's second son, as his best friend. The two spar a lot, and even learned to go Super Saiya-jin at very early ages together. However, probably due to the one year age difference between the two, its quite apparent that Trunks is the dominant one of the duo, making most of the decisions and persuading Goten to do things he's not sure are right. He's also a little stronger than Goten.

The two fight the evil Buu, but stand no chance despite their amazing power. However, Trunks gets extra motivation when Buu kills Vegeta. Goku attempts to teach them the Fusion dance so they can fuse together and defeat Buu, but is forced to return to the afterlife before he can finish their training. Piccolo takes his place instead.

Eventually the two learn the dance, and after comically failing the fusion a couple times, the eventually get it right. However, they weren't Super Saiya-jin when they did the dance, so Gotenks isn't as powerful as he could be. Yet, Gotenks is also a cocky-bastard, and believes he can defeat Buu. He returns soon after, bloody and beaten.

The two train to fuse as Super Saiya-jins and eventually master it. However, they still aren't strong enough to defeat the newly formed Evil Buu and train in the Room of Spirit and TIme, both of them with a motive now that Buu has also killed Chi-Chi.

Piccolo stalls Evil Buu for a minute, which is actually six days in the Room of Spirit and Time. They train restlessly in the time they have, reaching a whole new level entirely.

Evil Buu and Piccolo finally arrive in the Room of Spirit and Time, and the amazingly strong Gotenks battles Evil Buu in Super Saiya-jin 2 form while Piccolo spectates. Gotenks can't quite kill Buu, even though he's not exactly losing, but has a trick up his sleeve.

However, being the cocky ass that he most likely enherited from Trunks, he pretends he has nothing left and that Buu has won to fool Piccolo. In reality, he can go Super Saiya-jin level 3 and easily kill Buu. Piccolo, on the other hand, believing its all over, destroys the exit to Earth, trapping the three in.

Buu still escapes and kills everyone save for Dende. Piccolo and SSJ3 Gotenks follows after him.

Gohan arrives soon, and, realizing there's no way he can win against the amazingly strong Mystic Gohan, Evil Buu absorbs Gotenks, making him considerably stronger. This is where Trunks basically stays for a while, until Vegeta and Goku rescue them.

HOWEVER, Trunks is killed again when the Earth explodes (which makes Vegeta angry at Goku because he saved Mr. Satan and his dog rather than Trunks). The Earth is ressurrected and Trunks helps to donate the energy to Goku's killing Genki Dama. The world is finally in peace.

10 years pass, and Goten and Trunks are still best friends (as well as ladies' men). Trunks now resembles the Trunks that came from the future during the Cell saga.

This marks the end of Dragon Ball Z.

In Dragon Ball GT, Trunks is the unhappy man in charge of Capsule Corporation, skipping out of work whenever possible. He goes with Pan and Son Goku to retrieve the Black Star Dragon Balls throughout space, where he shows that he's still got some fight left in him. However, after returning to Earth, he's subjugated to much the same worthlessness as most of the rest of the cast.
