MOVIE 13: EXPLODING DRAGON FIST!! IF GOKU CAN'T DO IT, WHO CAN?
(RYUUKEN BAKUHATSU!! GOKU GA YARANEBA DARE GA YARU?)

NOTE: I took a few liberties with the dialogue in this movie because I have Anime Labs' sub, which includes the infamous Vegeta line that goes something to the effect of, "You fucking bastard!! You dare to destroy my house? Fuck you!!" In other words, it's teeming with juvenility and inaccuracy. What this means is, the dialogue you read here may not be perfectly accurate, but it's my hope that it's closer than the original subtitles were.

As we start out, we see a small, oblong object falling. It looks a bit like an ocarina, but it's more rounded. It's got an engraving of an alien face on it, and a little piece on top is rounded off in gold. The rest of the object is sort of a pink/yellow/white color, with a gold ring around the base of the piece on the top. There's also a strap coming off it, which is also gold. It hits the ground, bouncing with a few "clink" noises.

Now we're on a barren planet. Large, craggy mountains rise up, and other planets, or possibly moons, can be seen as dark spheres in the background. A giant foot, green/brown in colo, drops, sendings rocks and debris flying. A small man who resembles Kaioushin stands, a look of fear on his face, a sheathed sword on his back. Lightning is now sparking everywhere around him. The man draws his sword and swings it, preparing to fight the giant beast. Just then, the foot falls on him. The man looks up in horror and screams as the foot crushes him. Nearby, his sword lands in a rock, and we can see the entire beast...which seems to be nothing more than two giant legs, a tail, and a piece at top where they connect. There is no torso to speak of, much less a head on this monster. A wind picks up and dust is carried. As it clears, we see that the monster is now gone. Pulling back into the sky, we see a giant footprint. From somewhere unseen comes a maniacal laugh. "The Earth is the only one left."

On Earth, someone's certainly in a hurry. A car tears through the streets, and other vehicles flip and roll as they try to move away. A police siren pursues the driver. The yellow convertible, apparently the car in question, flies over a hill and down the street, slamming another car in a U-turn. Unable to continue the chase, the police vehicle overturns. As the criminals speed off, they mock the police. Apparently, they weren't paying close enough attention to what's ahead of them. The Great Saiyaman suddenly appears and stops the car. One man pulls out a gun, but the Great Saiyaman effortlessly catches each bullet and drops them on the car. He then stomps the front of the car, and in the process, catapults all three men forward. They look ahead of them, and find that Great Saiyaman 2 blocks them from any possible escape. The man who had the gun pulls a knife and jumps at her, but she easily dodges and then knocks him out with a hit to the gut. Another man pulls a gun on her, but she dodges the bullets, knocks his gun out of his hand, and knocks him out, too. The last man pulls out a shotgun, but Great Saiyaman grabs the barrel and twists it back, pointing it back at the man. He begs for forgiveness, and they do their little formation.

Great Saiyaman, "As long as crime exists..."

Great Saiyaman 2 jumps in next to him, "...the fire of justice shall always burn!"

"I am Great Saiyaman 1!"

"And I am Great Saiyaman 2!"

They spin around and do their little dance, then speak together. "Here we come again!" The man just looks at them puzzled, and Gohan (Great Saiyaman) keeps looking forward.

He thinks to himself, "I'm so cool!" Nearby, a little old man watches from around a corner, laughs, and runs off.

Gohan and Videl finally get back to school. Gohan apologizes for taking so long and says the men's room is really busy (he didn't tell anyone he was the Great Saiyaman, and always "has to go to the bathroom" when a crime is committed in Satan City). Sharpener, one of the guys in Gohan's class, speaks up. "C'mon Gohan, everybody knows who you really are."

The teacher speaks. "Well, let's continue. Mr. Rochivitch was a writer who wrote about lovers being separated..."

Videl's pager goes off. "Yes, this is the Great Saiyaman here."

The voice on the other end tells Videl of the problem. "There's a strange guy who's climbing up Randsel Tower and raving like a lunatic."

"A stupid thing like this! Take care of it yourself." She cuts off the other end.

Gohan stands up and asks to be excused again. "Excuse me, Professor! May I go to the bathroom again?"

"Again?"

"Maybe it was last night's dinner that's causing it?"

Atop a tower, just as they said, sits a man. He's an old man, wearing odd garments, and doesn't even look human. "Leave me alone! I've lost all my hopes and dreams!! I'm going to jump and end it all!"

Below, a crowd has gathered. "Wasn't he the one on TV talking something about an oracle before?"

Someone else responds, "Yeah, that's him." They all agree, "He's really strange!" Suddenly, two forms streak across the sky. "There goes the Great Saiyaman!"

The old man speaks again. "I'm not moving no matter who comes!"

Gohan floats next to him. "Listen old man, it's dangerous up here. Let's go down, okay?"

"Go away! I want to die!"

Videl, obviously not caring, suggests something. "Let him die."

"Videl-san!"

"Hurry up! Jump!"

"I will." With that, he lets go and leaps off the tower.

Videl, "Oh god!" Below, everyone's yelling and screaming.

The old man screams to the Great Saiyamen. "HELP!" Gohan drops down and catches him, and the three of them fly off.

The crowd yells, "He saved him!"

Gohan speaks to the man, whose name is Hoi, for future reference. "Are you alright?"

"You should have saved me earlier! What were you going to do if I died?"

Videl, "You're weird, old man."

They land near a fountain, and in the background, Hoi is speaking to Gohan. "You don't know about Tapion, the Legend of the Brave?!" Gohan tells him that he doesn't. "You're telling me that you don't know the legend about the brave warrior who saved the Konack planet in the Souther Galaxy about 1000 years ago?!"

Gohan's getting interested, but Videl cuts in. "Gohan, we better start hurring back."

"I want to meet him!"

Hoi, "Really?"

"Can I meet him?"

"I wish I could help you. Unfortunately, Tapion was sealed away in this mysterious oracle." Hoi produces a small box, intricately decorated, with a crank on one side.

Gohan examines it. "In here? Why?"

Hoi grins. "You'll know when he comes back for us."

Videl grabs Gohan by the arm. "Let's go back, Gohan!"

"Wait a minute. Old man, please explain it to me."

"My sense tell me that the Earth will be in danger soon!"

Gohan stares at him incredulously. "The Earth is in danger?!"

"Something evil that is capable of destroying small galaxies is approaching Earth now. So we're in desperate need of help from the Brave Warrior, Tapion. Because of that, I've spent the last thirty years of my life searching for this oracle!"

Videl, "So why don't you let him out?"

"I would have done it already if I could!"

Gohan, "You can't?"

"Can you crank the music box?"

He hands the oracle to Gohan. "Hmm? Can I?"

"If you can, Tapion will return."

Videl, "That's it? You should have told us in the first place."

He gives it a shot, and though he tries to the best of his abilities, even the Great Saiyaman, the one who defeated Cell and saved the Earth, cannot turn the crank. "W...why?"

Videl, "Let me try." She takes the music box and examines it. "This is just rusty, that's all." She tosses it over her back and Hoi grabs for it. He barely keeps it from hitting the ground. "Let's go back, before school's over."

"Videl-san!" As Videl begins to fly off and Gohan watches after her, Hoi tries to get their attention once more.

"Shenlon could do it!" Gohan looks at him in surprise and Videl falls back to the ground. "Bring me to Shenlon!"

Gohan, "Shenlon?"

"Have Shenlon bring back Tapion for us, please!"

"Why, old man?"

"I found out you two were able to contact Shenlon before. Please do me this favor!"

Videl, "So the whole suicide bit was all an act to call us?"

"You got it."

At Capsule Corporation headquarters, Bulma's examining the contents of the oracle. Goku, "Old man, is this story for real?"

Bulma, "Don't you think so?"

Hoi, "Hey babe, you still have doubts about me? We don't have any time left." The oracle sits in a small container, and a scanner runs over the exterior of the box, apparently penetrating to see what's inside. "The Earth will be destroyed unless we do something to bring Tapion back." Goten's and Trunks' reflections show back on the glass as they come up to peer inside.

Bulma, "Can't be! I can't scan inside of it!" Goten and Trunks run over to her. She opens the capsule back up. "It's probably made of something incredibly special." Goku picks it up and tries his luck at turning the crank, but even he cannot do it.

Goku, "I can't turn the crank..."

Kuririn, "Even Goku can't open this. There may be some truth to this after all."

Goku puts the box down and Goten and Trunks play with it. "Is he really powerful?"

Hoi, "Of course, he's the Legend of the Brave!"

Goku, "I see... Well, let's go out and find the Dragon Balls!"

So they each split up and went to different areas of the world. Goku and Hoi went together, then Goten and Trunks, Gohan and Videl, and Kuririn alone. Hoi, "I think I'm going to like this planet Earth..."

Goku, "You mean you're not from Earth?"

"I...mean...I must have made a mistake."

Goten and Trunks race over a snowy field. "C'mon, Goten! Let's hurry up and find it!"

"We'd love to meet this brave warrior!"

Videl and Gohan speed toward their Dragon Ball through air. "If this story about this warrior is true, I wonder what Tapion will look like. I'm interested in meeting this brave warrior."

Kuririn shoves his head through some shrubbery. "Am I all alone again?" Some ghosts and goblins show themselves nearby, flying around in front of him and poking their heads through beside him. He looks around at them, and we see that he's actually at a carnival or theme park. Back with the Great Saiyamen, Videl finds their Dragon Ball. Meanwhile, Goten and Trunks have already found theirs, made it part of a snowman, and are now playing in the snow together. At the top of a park ride, Kuririn finds the #5 Dragon Ball.

At the zoo, Goku and Hoi see a lion playing with the Dragon Ball. He's rolling it under his paw and chewing on it a bit. Goku, "There it is!"

"But how are you going to get it from him?"

"I'll show you how." Goku jumps up to stand on his hands on the railing, then flips into the cage with the lions. They all pounce on him, and it seems Hoi fears the worst. Lions begin running away, and Goku hands the Ball to Hoi. "Here!" Hoi looks up at him, to see Son Goku with a lion on his back. His head is in the lion's mouth, with the lion's paws on his chest. "Now we should have everything."

On the lawn of Capsule Corporation, Shenlon is summoned. Goku, "Please come before us, Shenlon!"

"How beautiful... Is he... Shenlon?"

"I will grant you any wish that you ask! Declare your wish!"

Hoi, "I wish for you to open this oracle and release Tapion the Brave from it."

"This will be a piece of cake." His eyes glow and lightning strikes at the box, throwing Hoi back. "I have granted your wish. So long." In a flash of light, Shenlon disappears. The seven Dragon Balls, in their little circular formation, rise into the sky and circle the center one. The revolve around it, changing angles for a few seconds, then burst into a flash of light and take off to different areas of the world. The sky returns to normal, and everyone stares at the oracle.

Bulma, "Wait a minute! Nothing's happened." Videl quiets her, and the crank begins to turn. "What a beautiful melody!"

Videl, "But it seems somehow melancholy."

Goten and Trunks are hunched forward in anticipation. "Here he comes!" Smoke begins to rise from the box, and light flashes around it. The box is open, the light has changed, and smoke and light encircle something above the box. Hoi backs away. The box's melody is now being played by something else - a flute.

The oracle disintegrates, and as the smoke clears, a figure is revealed. He looks somewhat like Kaioushin, but he's got red hair, a sword, and a small instrument that sounds like a flute, but is identical to the object that first crashed to the ground at the beginning of the movie. Before the Z Senshi stands the Legend of the Brave, Tapion. He slowly floats toward the ground (when he came out of the box, he was a few inches above). He continues playing.

Goku, "So what the old guy said... It really was true." Tapion finishes and looks up.

Trunks, "Cool!"

Videl, "And he's good looking, too!" Hoi steps forward.

Tapion draws his sword and directs it at Hoi. "Don't come any closer! You brought me back here?"

Hoi, "You've done a nice job remaining in there for 1000 years."

"How dare you! Put me back in!"

"Too late. The oracle's seal is broken, as well!"

Goku steps forward and tells him to calm down. "You've finally got out of -"

Tapion interrupts him. "Please don't come any closer to me. You've made a grave mistake."

"Mistake?" Tapion walks off.

Trunks, "He'll be my hero from now on!"

Bulma, "Don't do that! He doesn't even know how to thank us for letting him out."

Trunks runs off. "Wait!"

Goten chases him. "Trunks!"

Bulma, "No! Come back!"

Gohan, "What do you think?"

Videl, "Something's very fishy." Gohan agrees.

Goku, "I don't get it..." Hoi chuckles to himself.

Tapion seems to have found himself a home at what appears to be an old construction site. Massive, but crumbling, stone pillars rise up in places around the area. Inside, all is still, except for a droplet of water, falling off a hanging chain into a puddle below. On the roof, Trunks and Goten approach a trap door. "We shouldn't be doing this, Trunks."

Trunks reaches for the handle anyway. "Why not? He's a brave warrior. I want to hear all the stories he's been through." Trunks throws open the door and Goten turns away briefly as the dust that was thrown up settles.

As he turns back toward Trunks, Goten continues to argue. "But your mom said no..." Nothing's going to stop Trunks though, and he peers into the building below. "But..." Inside, Tapion is clutching his head and breathing heavily. Trunks is startled, and falls back, screaming. "What's wrong?"

Trunks forces a laugh. "He really is a warrior. This is so exciting for me." Tapion looks up toward the ceiling, toward the trap door. After glancing briefly, he looks back at the ground.

At Capsule Corporation, everyone's having fun. Goku picks up a shish kebab off the grill and begins eating it. He looks around. "Hmm? Where's the old man?"

The others wonder as well, and Kamesennin stumbles onto the scene, giving us all his idea. "Maybe he's out cruising for some hot, young chicks." As he speaks, he points at Videl and Goku laughs, while Gohan seems to get a little defensive.

Bulma stands up. "Don't go judging him on your own perverted standards."

Kamesennin turns and walks toward her. "If he's not looking for the young ones, maybe it's the older, developed ones he's after." He points at her chest, and Bulma closes her eyes for a moment, looking down in disgust. Kamesennin laughs just before she smacks him upside the head, sending him flying. Of course, everyone gets a good laugh out of that. Back over at the grill, a few small hands reach up from underneath. They grab a shish kebab, and Goku looks over. He laughs and puts another shish kebab right in front of one of the searching hands. The owner of the hand, Trunks, grabs the food. Under the table, Goten and Trunks have assembled a small dish of food, and they laugh, with Kamesennin sprawled out in front of them, apparently unconscious.

Back at Tapion's temporary home, Goten and Trunks are now using the entrance, rather than the roof. They run up the stairs, and inside, Tapion is in no better condition than he was earlier. He seems to be in a great deal of pain, and when he hears them running up the stairs outside, he grabs his sword. Goten and Trunks arrive to find Tapion with sword in hand, ready to kill just about anything that comes through the door. They stop dead in their tracks, obviously stunned (wouldn't you be?). Goten hides behind Trunks, who says "Sir, we're just going to leave some food here for you." They put the food on a barrel that's apparently serving as a table as Tapion sheaths his sword and relaxes. Trunks forces a nervous laugh. "Let's see... my mom is a real good cook." Tapion ignores them, and Trunks tries to think of something to say. "We're going now...we'll be back tomorrow."

Traffic has come to a halt on a bridge outside Satan City, and angry motorists are leaning out the window, yelling. "What the hell is going on? Move it!" Nearby in the city, a tremendous explosion goes off, silencing the screaming drivers. In the city, frightened residents flee as a giant leg smashes into the street. As the beast moves down the street, the shockwaves caused by its walking shatter windows in nearby buildings. Helicopters, tanks, and soldiers all fight against the giant, but to no avail. The monster stops at an intersection, smashing a tank under its foot. Flying over the city, the Great Saiyamen, Gohan and Videl, look down upon the destruction.

Gohan, "What is this mess?"

As they fly toward the center of the disturbance, one of the soldiers notes their arrival. "Here comes the Great Saiyaman! The Great Saiyaman is here!"

Another soldier answers, "Well, let's put him in charge."

Gohan and Videl land in the street and one of the colossal legs lands in front of them. Gohan looks up at the beast, completely amazed. The monster drags its tail through a line of buildings on the street, easily moving through them, obviously causing them to collapse. Gohan and Videl narrowly escape the tail themselves. We finally get a good look at the monster. It has two legs, which meet at the top, and a tail which also comes out of the juncture. There's nothing above the legs but an energy field-type thing. No torso, no head. Videl, "What is that?!"

"It's a monster, but only the legs of the monster. Maybe that's what the old man was talking about?"

"Let's execute our formation, Gohan!"

"You want to do it?!"

"Why not?"

They land in the street together, and begin their ridiculous little dance. "The Great Saiyaman shall never let crime escape!"

"I am the Great Saiyaman 1!"

"And I am the Great Saiyaman 2!"

In unison again, "Here we come!" Before they finish their formation, the monster's tail swings at them, tearing up the street where they had stood just seconds before.

Videl pulls off her helmet. "He didn't let us finish the rest of our lines!"

Gohan jumps up. "How dare you destroy this town! No mercy!" He begins powering up and flies into the air. "Here I come!" In response, the monster ignores him and continues destroying buildings. Gohan kicks it, leaving a temporary indentation at the top of one of the giant's legs. He flips back, flying up. "This guy is tough!" Gohan flies down, straight at the monster, dodging the tail all the way. He spirals as he flies, and whenever he faces the beast, he throws a few ki blasts. The monster falls into an office building. Videl dodges falling rubble, jumping back toward a parked car, which is soon crushed under the weight of an immense boulder. Videl cheers Gohan on. Gohan stands, thinking. "I see... when he attacks, he becomes vulnerable." As the monster stands back up, Gohan jumps into the air. "Now!" He dodges the tail once more, then flies back toward the ground, barely dodging a few stomps from the legs. The leg lands right beside Gohan and he flies up, punching the creature. Again, he makes a temporary indentation on it, and the creature falls back a little. Gohan lands, kicking its legs out from under it. It falls back and implants its tail in the street, trying to bring itself back to its feet. As it stands up again, Gohan lands on a building and throws a large stream of ki at the beast. It's thrown back into a building, and we lose sight of it in the ensuing explosion. Gohan jumps off the building, and from a better point in the air, throws eleven more similar blasts. From a view across the water and near the bridge, we see a giant explosion in the middle of the city that's growing more with each hit.

Videl runs toward Gohan and the flaming wreckage. "You won!" They watch as the smoke and fire clear a bit.

"Not yet." Videl's amazed, but doesn't have long to think about it before a flute can be heard.

Videl turns to Gohan. "Is this melody...?" The smoke begins to clear out. "The monster is gone!" Through the wreckage and down the street, we see Tapion, back to Gohan, walking and playing his flute.

He turns and looks toward Gohan briefly. "T...Tapion?" As the smoke clears completely, Tapion disappears.

Gohan runs into the wreckage to find Tapion, but Videl stops him. "Gohan, look!" Gohan follows her line of sight and sees Hoi on the roof. He laughs and runs off. Gohan and Videl stare up at the building, alone in the middle of a partially destroyed city.

Back at Tapion's "home," rats are trying to make a meal of Trunks' shish kebabs. Tapion sits, examining his flute. A clinking sound startles him, and he turns to see Trunks with more food than he can carry, and a can rolling on the floor. Tapion stands up and attaches the flute to his belt. "Sir, please use these if you don't mind."

Tapion finally acknowledges him, but only to yell. "Do not come any closer to me!"

"Don't get mad, I'll leave these here..." He notices the uneaten food. "You didn't eat anything..." Tapion screams at him to go, and Trunks runs out.

As darkness falls, Tapion sleeps. His hand slips off the flute, and it falls to the ground. A mist lifts off of Tapion and a portal opens. The wind picks up and thunder and lightning appear. Tapion wakes up. He sees what's happening and reaches for his flute, finding it gone. A hand reaches out of the portal. Tapion dodges the hand and the owner of the hand begins to get out. It's a HUGE beast with a tiny head. It roars at Tapion, and he finally sees his flute on the ground. He dodges another hit and the hand flies through a wall. Tapion dives for the flute, lands against a wall and begins playing. He stands up as he plays, and the monster prepares to strike again, but begins to pull back, growling. Tapion advances on it, playing his flute the entire time. The flute begins to glow, and the beast gets sucked into Tapion's body. He stops playing, gasping as he lowers the flute.

As the sun rises on Tapion's home, Trunks arrives. "W...what happened?" He steps into the room carrying a tray of food and milk. "Oh, you're okay! I knew it..." Tapion glares at him and Trunks stops. He laughs and says, "I just knew it! I'll just put your breakfast here." He sets it down. "I'll bring more later!" Tapion returns to his view of the floor, once again ignoring Trunks.

At Capsule Corporation, Bulma and Videl wash dishes together. Bulma, "Trunks is bringing him food secretly."

"That's very sweet of Trunks."

"He always said Goten was lucky enough to have a brother. So he figures he should have one, too."

"I've got no brothers or sisters, so I understand how Trunks feels."

"But the world is so full of dangerous people."

Videl laughs as she replies, "But Trunks is one of the most powerful ones of them all!"

That same, now-familiar melody can be heard echoing throughout the city as Tapion's flute plays. Tapion stands alone, playing his flute as Trunks chases some cats away from Tapion's food. "Don't eat that! That's for my brother!" The cat isn't scared at all by Trunks, and struts off at its own pace. He leaves some food for Tapion and says he'll be back later. Hoi is perched upon the roof of a nearby building, and Trunks moves over toward Tapion instead of leaving. He tells Tapion that the flute sounds nice, and asks him to play some more. Tapion just looks at him, and Trunks laughs, saying "Heh, nevermind." Tapion turns around and walks toward Trunks, with his back to the outside. Hoi jumps from the roof, landing silently behind Tapion. Tapion doesn't see it, but Trunks does.

Tapion can't react, and Hoi runs at him, knocking the flute loose. It lands near Trunks. Trunks looks at Hoi as he picks up the flute off the ground. Hoi rushes him now, and although being incredibly agile for such an old man, Hoi can't come close to hitting Trunks. As they go back and forth, they hit a light fixture. It falls, setting a fire in front of Hoi. Trunks jumps back, landing on a pile of rubble as Tapion rushes in. "Trunks! Give me the flute!"

Trunks is about to give Tapion his flute, but Hoi stands up. "Wait, kid! Tapion is not the Brave Warrior! He is the monster that destroyed the town." Trunks gasps, turning toward Tapion.

"Trunks, don't listen to him."

"Not only the Earth, but the entire galaxy will be destroyed by him if you give him that flute. So hand it over to me." Hoi reaches out to grab the flute out of the air when Trunks throws it to him, but Trunks hasn't made a decision just yet.

"Trunks, believe me." Trunks looks back and forth between them, contemplating. He looks at Hoi for a while.

Hoi thinks he's pretty much decided, and encourages him. "Come on, give it to me now." Trunks turns to throw it to Hoi, and Tapion watches in silence as Hoi laughs.

"Brother!" Trunks jumps off the pile, and as he does, quickly turns to throw the flute to Tapion. Reaching out with one hand, Tapion snatches it out of the air. Hoi's stunned. He screams at Trunks. Obviously seething, Hoi makes his exit, jumping from level to level on the rafters above, eventually disappearing into the shadows. Trunks runs toward Tapion. "Brother..." Tapion looks at him in silence. "I know... I'll go home..."

As Trunks walks off, Tapion speaks without turning. "I'm hungry." Trunks stops and turns around. "Do you want to join me?"

Trunks is amazed. "Yes!" Later that night, the two of them sit together in Tapion's makeshift home, eating. "This one is very good! Try it!"

Back at CCHQ (Capsule Corporation Headquarters, of course), Bulma and Videl are talking. Bulma, "At last, Trunks brought him over to stay."

"It's nice to become friends with a brave warrior."

"At this moment, he's walking on air."

In Trunks' room, Trunks is showing Tapion his incredible collection of toys. RC cars crash into other toys, walking dolls stock around the room stiffly, and Trunks is elated. A train rides past as Trunks shows Tapion different toys. "Look, look! This one is really good. I got it last year for my birthday." A toy robot trips over the train tracks, breaking in half at the midsection. Tapion stares at it, tuning out for a moment as Trunks keeps talking. "Right? Right? Isn't it funny?" The robot continues trying to walk, despite being in pieces and on its side. "And if you do this and this, then it turns into this!" Tapion watches the top half intently as it struggles. "Look, look! And now this one..."

As Trunks lays in bed, falling asleep, Tapion turns out the lights. "Big brother, do you have any brothers or sisters?"

Tapion walks toward him, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Yes, I have one younger brother..."

Trunks gets interested. "That's good! What's he like?"

"Trunks, he's a nice kid like you."

"Tell me about your planet!"

Tapion agrees. "My planet is called Konack, in the Southern Galaxy. It's a beautiful planet, very much like this one, and very, very green. But then one day, we were attacked by a monster... By a menace called Hildegarn. The people were killed and the planet was being destroyed."

Tapion flashes back to a world in flames. Many people who look like Tapion are running, screaming. In the middle of the crowd, Tapion stops and turns. A giant beast, one that can be recognized as the one that came out of the portal when Tapion was sleeping, towers above the city. It roars, turning its massive body toward the mass of fleeing people. "When everyone thought they were going to die, a miracle occured." Tapion stands alone in the crowd, facing Hildegarn as others pass by him.

Tapion returns to the present in a state of unease. He turns, seeing Trunks sleeping peacefully. He smiles, focusing on Trunks. For a moment, he returns to his flashback, and a mini-Tapion with skin that is slighty more pale than that of Tapion has also stopped. He turns, and we zoom in on his face. "Minoshia! That must mean you've been killed..." Returning once again to the present, Tapion continues watching Trunks. "Take care, Trunks."

As Bulma walks the halls of Capsule Corporation, she finds Tapion standing outside Trunks' room. He turns and walks away, apparently not noticing her. "Where are you going?" He stops. He turns around and sees Bulma behind him. "You can stay as long as you want. Trunks is so happy that you've made this place your home."

Tapion turns to her and finally responds. "I can't."

"Why?"

"The reason that I can't stay...is that I've got a monster trapped inside my body."

Bulma's confused. "A monster? What are you talking about?" They sit down for coffee. "Tell me, what monster are you talking about?"

Tapion begins his story. "Well, the Black Magicians from a far off galaxy..."

He flashes back again, and amidst flames, we see several men who look like Hoi, chanting something. "...they had cast a spell of negative energy upon one of Konack's statues." As the camera moves up, we see them in front of a statue that looks like the beast, Hildegarn, from the story that Tapion told Trunks. "Thus, they gave birth to Hildegarn." We see an altar with two flutes and a large sword. Fire dances in a torch above Hildegarn. The statue turns a darker color, orange/brown sort of, and its eyes begin to glow, emitting green light. The statue crumbles, revealing the monster within. Hildegarn is free. He roars as he stands up, and the Magicians continue chanting the entire time.

Bulma sips her coffee. "So the magicians had tremendous power, I guess."

"And Hoi is one of them."

Bulma sets her coffee mug on the table and leans back in the seat. "So we were conned by that old man. How come the monster was sealed away inside of you?"

"We could control the statue by using the powers of the Holy Sword and Flute."

"Are you talking about that?" She motions toward Tapion's sheathed sword.

"Yes. This is one of the gifts from the gods." He unsheathes the sword, and as a bright light reflects off of the shiny metal surface, we're thrown into another flashback.

Tapion plays his flute amid a background of light. As we pull away from him, we see Minoshia with a flute exactly like that of Tapion. "Using the power of the gods' gift against the monster, my brother and I would play the flutes and freeze him in his tracks." The background begins to take shape, and we see that Tapion and Minoshia are on top of a structure partially in ruins, separated by a considerable distance with Hildegarn between them (not truly between, but in a triangle pattern). As the two brothers continue playing on, Hildegarn smashes the area of the building that Tapion stands on, but without missing a note, he jumps back and lands on another building. "Then with the monster in his immobilized state, one of our priests would use the Holy Sword to slice him in half." A man resembling Tapion, obviously of his race, runs in with the Holy Sword. He leaps into the air, and in one graceful slice, Hildegarn is cut in half. Hildegarn roars, his torso falling forward and his lower half falling back. Tapion and Minoshia never stop playing, and Hildegarn roars and writhes on the ground. "So one half of Hildegarn was sealed within me and the other half into my brother." As Hildegarn struggles on the ground, he slowly disappears. When he's entirely gone, the brothers finally lower their flutes. "At last, peace was restored to the Planet Konack."

Returning to the present once again, Tapion finishes his statement. "And my brother and I were to become the Legend of the Brave."

Bulma thinks for a moment. "But why were you in the oracle?"

"The Black Magicians' goal is to resurrect the monster, so precautions had to be made for this."

Flashing back once again, we see two identical oracles on a table in what appears to be a royal chamber, or possibly a place of worship to Konack's gods. "So we were sealed within the oracles so that the monster would be unavailable to anyone." Tapion and Minoshia look at each other. Minoshia chuckles and disappears. Now we're in outer space. Imagine the scene at the beginning of Star Wars (the first one) when the escape pod is jettisoned, and you know what this looks like. "But if the two of us come close together, then the monster halves will join again. So we were separated and sent away in different space modules, so that the halves would be as far away from each as possible."

And then, again, in the present, watching Bulma and Tapion through a fish tank. "But Hoi has retrieved both oracles and will use Hildegarn to rule the entire universe."

"Where is your brother?"

"He might be dead..."

"Hoi will pay for this."

"If I could be sealed up again, than Hildegarn will never be able to get his entire body back."

Bulma leans forward. "So since then, you haven't gotten any sleep?" Tapion sighs. "Okay, I'll take care of everything." Tapion's curious. "I'll put together an oracle like that one so it can contain the monster, okay?"

"Can you really do that?"

"I think I can. I still have the broken parts."

"Please! Please do so!"

"Until it's done, rest up a bit." Tapion agrees.

The next morning, Tapion and Trunks are out on the Capsule Corporation lawn with a dog (looks like Bee, but Satan's not in this movie, although Videl is...) when Bulma appears at the balcony, apparently having gotten no sleep last night. She yawns and walks up to the handrail, leans over, and yells to Tapion. "It's ready!" Tapion and Trunks stop playing and turn around. "I call it Tapion's bedroom." Tapion's excited, and they check out Tapion's bedroom. Inside Bulma's lab, a small room has been added. "Being inside this will help maintain the control the oracle had on Hildegarn." Tapion walks in, looking around. "While you get some sleep, everything will be okay."

Tapion reaches the back and turns around. "Thank you very much!"

In the streets, debris is scattered about as we hear an incantation from Hoi. Suddenly, an explosion goes off, throwing a bus and dispersing frightened citizens. They run and scream as Hildegarn's bottom half continues to wreak havoc. The end of the tail opens and tentacles shoot out, wrapping around anyone they can get. The tail launches itself through the air, temporarily soaring above buildings. "When Hildegarn becomes one again, it will signal the beginning of the End. I shall rule the Earth and the entire universe!"

A dark force reaches Capsule Corporation, travels through the hallways, and finally into Bulma's lab and Tapion's bedroom. We see from a first person perspective of this...force, and when we reach Tapion, the glint in his eye reveals that we're none other than Hildegarn's top half. Tapion screams, but there's nothing he can do. Blue waves of light move through Tapion's bedroom, and Hildegarn's top half begins to take shape, Tapion screaming the whole time. The building shakes and a loud crash can be heard. Bulma springs forward. "What?!" She throws open her window and gasps at the devastation. Her lab is severely damaged. Hildegarn apparently knows how to be efficient with time though, so he crashed through a wall and was on his way. Besides a gaping hole in the wall, Bulma's lab appears to be...for the most part, intact.

Inspector Goku arrives with the rest of the Z Senshi. He picks up a piece of rubble and examines it. "I see...this place was smashed to bits." Footsteps are heard, and Trunks, Gohan, and Goku turn to see who it is. From behind part of the remaining wall, Tapion staggers out, gasping.

Trunks and Gohan run to his aid. "Brother?!"

Bulma, "How's Hildegarn?"

Tapion, "I've sealed away his upper body, but his lower half is rampaging through town." Everyone gasps. "And now their united power is growing, so I can't hold on...!" A ring of light briefly surrounds Tapion's face, he gasps and collapses.

"Brother!"

Bulma runs up. "I'll make another one, even better than before!"

"Too late... it's better to just kill me now, while Hildegarn is trapped inside of me." No one wants to do that though, and they're surprised he'd even suggest it. The blue waves of light return, washing over Tapion. Tapion struggles.

"Brother!!"

Tapion, "Hurry up!"

Hoi, "I won't let you!!" A blue portal opens above Capsule Corporation, and Hildegarn appears. Tapion stands up to play his flute, but it's blasted out of his hands. Hoi laughs as Trunks dives for the flute. Above him, part of Capsule Corporation crumbles as Hildegarn puts a foot down, and Trunks is seeming crushed.

Tapion, "TRUNKS!!"

Trunks leaps out from behind the foot. He throws Tapion his flute. "Brother, play it!" Tapion catches the flute. He puts it up to his mouth, but before he can play it, the waves come back again. Tapion howls and drops the flute. This part looks really cool, because Tapion's colors (skin, clothes, everything) are inverted. It looks like he's being ripped apart from above, and then suddenly it all fades, and we return to the real world. Tapion collapses, and in the sky, a portal opens. Hoi chuckles, getting excited. Lightning rains from above, first just striking all around Capsule Corporation, then extending out over the entire city. A great wind pushes at trees and buildings, and the area on Hildegarn's bottom half where torso would be glows white. When everything is a bit more calm, Hildegarn is whole once again. Tapion looks up, gasping. Now, this thing is absolutely monstrous, but the head is really small, so it looks disproportionate. Everyone stares up at it in awe.

Gohan, "The body is..."

Bulma finishes for him. "...joined together."

Hildegarn throws his head back and roars. Hoi sits in midair nearby, watching everything. "It's been over 1000 years in captivity, and now Hildegarn is back! Now, devour everyone's energy until it's all gone!" Hildegarn roars again and throws his fist through what remains of the ceiling of Bulma's lab, scattering the Z Senshi. His eyes glow red and Tapion grabs the flute. Everyone flies out onto the lawn and Tapion gets himself a spot on top of a nearby building. He begins playing, but Hildegarn is unaffected. Hildegarn continues moving toward the group on the lawn, and swings his tail at them all, sending them flying off in different directions. Hildegarn is too fast for Tapion, and almost gets him with the tail, but Trunks flies in and rescues him. Hoi laughs. "That stupid toy won't work anymore!"

Tapion's shocked. "It can't be!"

"Now witness the full power of Hildegarn!"

Goten and Goku land in the street, and Goku yells. "I won't let you do this!" He and Goten both attack Hildegarn, and despite his size, he's incredibly fast. Goku barely manages to avoid a few hits. He's about to go on the offensive when Hildegarn vanishes, and Goku gets nothing but air. He looks around, but he's too slow, and Hildegarn appears above him, smashing him with a giant fist.

Trunks sets Tapion down at a building in the middle of the city. "It's time for us to take over now. Brother, stay here where it's safe." Tapion calls to him, but Trunks just gives him the thumbs up and flies off toward the battle. The Son family regroups on the ground in a triangle formation and all three power up. Goku reaches Super Saiya-jin 2, Goten reaches Super Saiya-jin, and Gohan, being Mystic Gohan, doesn't go Super Saiya-jin at all, but just powers up. All three of them fly at Hildegarn. Hildegarn separates them with a swing of his fist, but hits no one. Gohan attacks, but Hildegarn disappears again, and Gohan hits nothing. "His speed is increasing..." Nearby, Hildegarn reappears, destroying more of the town in the process. Goku fires a Kamehameha at Hildegarn, but hits only the city when Hildegarn vanishes yet again. Hildegarn appears behind Goku, and Gohan tries to warn him. "Father!" Goku turns around, but not in time to dodge a swinging arm. Goku flies toward the ground, smashing through the roof of Capsule Corporation and landing in front of a terrified Videl and Bulma.

Gohan attacks again, but Hildegarn's speed is just too much. He tries a similar move to that which he used on Goku, disappearing and reappearing right behind Gohan. Gohan turns in time though, and attacks first. He misses again though, as Hildegarn disappears into a cloud of smoke. "I can't lay a finger on him..." He screams as Hildegarn appears in front of him and grabs him, squeezing Gohan in his hand. A giant blast hits Hildegarn's arm though, and he drops Gohan, roaring.

He turns to see where the blast came from, and finds the Prince of the Saiya-jin standing on the roof of a nearby CC building. "Bastard! You dare to destroy my house! Now I'm really angry!" He turns Super Saiya-jin and flies at Hildegarn. He attacks, but ends up on the defensive. He dodges a few hits, and even does his damndest to block one (and succeeds). Before he recovers though, Hildegarn hits him again. Vegeta recovers before hitting the ground, stopping himself in mid air. He flies up, high above Hildegarn, and hits him right in the head with a ki blast. We lose Hildegarn in the ensuing explosion, and Vegeta doesn't see him vanish and reappear right behind him. He turns, but it's too late. A hit from the tail and Vegeta flies through an office building. Hildegarn fires a giant blast at the building, and Vegeta stands up to block it. He counters it with a blast of his own, and both blasts fight for a moment before exploding outside the building. People are blown back, but except for a few broken windows, the building sustains no major damage. Vegeta, obviously exhausted and weakened, speaks. "I'm too nice..." With that, he collapses on the ground and goes out of Super Saiya-jin, returning to normal.

Goku lands near the gaping hole where Vegeta flew in. "Vegeta!" Hildegarn appears right behind him, smashing Goku between his hands. Goku howls in pain.

Trunks, "Father!"

Goten, "Dad!!" Goku falls toward the street below. Hildegarn decides to clean up a little, vaporizing some surrounding buildings with a giant ki blast from the mouth.

"Goten! Let's do the Fusion!" Trunks turns Super Saiya-jin, and Goten agrees.

They do the Fusion Dance. "FUUUUU-SION-HA!" A bright flash of light envelops them, and when it clears, Super Gotenks 3 floats above the city. Hildegarn continues destroying the city. Gotenks appears behind Hildegarn, boasting. Hildegarn spins around and tries to hit Gotenks, but he easily dodges. He appears in front of Hildegarn, and Hildegarn swings again, but only succeeds in destroying more of the city. Gotenks continues mocking Hildegarn. Gotenks flies toward a tower and flies around it. Hildegarn attempts to get him again, but falls into the tower. Gotenks flies up into the air and announces his attack. He shoots a barrage of ki blasts at Hildegarn, hitting him with the Continuous Die Die Missile. Each blast hits, and Hildegarn roars as the tower completely collapses. Gotenks smiles. "Hey hey!" The smoke clears and a brown/red shell sits where Hildegarn once was. Gotenks taps on it. "That's it? Too weak!"

Goku, "Finish it! Hurry!" Gotenks agrees, and flies into the air above Hildegarn. He throws a ki blast, and all we can see is Hildegarn's tail now. We go in under the smoke, getting a good view of Hildegarn, and a green light shoots out of part of his shell as he breaks free. Hildegarn has gone through a metamorphosis. Gotenks is shocked. The new Hildegarn begins to stand up and spread his wings. Yep, that's right. He's got wings now. The new Hildegarn looks something like this. On his upper back, two giant brown wings extend outward in either direction. Above those are two shoulder things that look kind of like the shoulder guards on a piece of Saiya-jin armor, or from Freezer's third form. From those two shoulder guards extends out backward, a pink deal, which also reminds you of the piece coming off the back of form 3 Freezer's head. On top of Hildegarn's head are two white horns...yep, once again reminescent of Freezer, but this time, it's form 2. The dominant colors are brown and yellow now, and most of Hildegarn's back half is brown, while the front side is a combination of brown and yellow. Hildegarn stands up, roaring. He spreads his wings, and we now see that he has not one pair, but three. Two pairs are translucent (you can see through them, but not clearly) and then there's the real pair.

Gotenks, "No way!" Hildegarn flies over the city, back toward the battlefield at Capsule Corporation. As if the people of the city weren't frightened enough as it is, now the monster can fly, too. He hits Gotenks, and Trunks and Goten (notice I used both names as the fusion is apparently over) fall through an overpass, landing unconscious and un-Super Saiya-jin on the ground.

Gohan flies toward them. "Goten! Trunks!" Hildegarn comes up behind him, wrapping Gohan up in his tail. Videl flies up to help him, but Hildegarn breathes fire at her, and she flies into a wall (and remember, she's just a slightly abnormal human, so that *hurts* for her). She falls from the building, through a canopy over the sidewalk, and lands unconscious. Nearby, Gohan is launched into the same building, but he flies through the wall, so he doesn't land on the ground. "Videl...san..." He passes out.

Hildegarn throws back his head, roaring. Son Goku rises into the air, debris encircling him. "What power... this is a real monster!" He flies at Hildegarn, dodging a blast of fire. He doesn't hit Hildegarn though, as we soon find that his speed remained intact in the metamorphosis. Goku dodges a few hits, and Hildegarn appears behind him. Goku tries to hit him, but Hildegarn appears behind him on the other side. "Damn it!" Goku can't dodge the hit though, and Hildegarn smashes him into the ground. Buildings collapse on top of Goku, and Hildegarn leaves him for dead. He stalks down the street, and frightened people try to run away. Goku, no longer a Super Saiya-jin, sits up under the rubble. "He wasn't damaged at all..." He watches as another explosion goes off, then he pushes the rubble aside and stands up. He stands behind what remains of a wall. "Damn...how can I...possibly...beat him?" Another explosion goes off as Goku staggers down the street. He collapses in the street as Hoi laughs maniacally at the destruction.

Another building collaspes. "Let's destroy everything, Hildegarn and reap the energy from their life force!"

Suddenly, Tapion's flute can be heard throughout the city. We see a few images of the Z Senshi. Goten, unconscious. Vegeta, being helped up by the employees in the office building he had earlier saved. They stop for a minute when they hear the flute, and we move on. Goku, Gohan, also unconscious.

Videl begins to wake up. "If this is a dream, please wake us all up..."

Trunks wakes as he hears the flute. "Brother..." Tapion stands atop a building as Hildegarn stops momentarily.

Hildegarn roars, and Hoi jumps to a lower spot on the building he was standing on. "Stupid! That's totally useless now!" Hildegarn moves toward Tapion and breathes fire at him, but Tapion creates a ki shield around himself and is unaffected by the fire. He doesn't miss a single note, either. The building below him disappears, but Tapion remains in the air. "What?!"

Trunks runs toward them, and Hildegarn roars, beginning to back away. Tapion moves toward him as Hildegarn tries to back away. "Brave... Tapion truly is the Legend of the Brave Warrior!" Trunks exclaims.

Tapion thinks to himself, "I cannot lose." Hildegarn continues to roar, falling into a building. "To use the souls of these people...! I must put a stop to all of this!" Hildegarn roars some more, and begins to disentegrate.

Hoi leans forward. "This can't be!!" As soon as Tapion has absorbed all of Hildegarn, he falls to the ground.

Trunks runs to him. "You did it! You did it, Brother!"

Tapion gets up and hands Trunks his sword. "Trunks... while Hildegarn is trapped inside me, kill me." Trunks gasps. "You have to save the Earth!"

"No, I can't!"

"Kill me! You want to be a Brave Warrior also, right?"

"I can't..."

"Trunks, the Earth will be destroyed... Before that happens, let me die as a Brave Warrior! If he comes out again, then it's all over... Please..." Trunks slowly takes the sword and raises it above his head. "Thank you... I'm glad that I got to know you."

Hoi runs forward. "STOP IT!!"

Trunks is about to force himself to kill Tapion, but before he can, Tapion begins to glow. "Brother?!" He drops the sword and runs toward Tapion. Tapion screams, the flute shatters.

"Stupid! Your body alone isn't enough to seal away all of Hildegarn!"

Hildegarn reappears above the city. Videl is unconscious again, and Gohan never woke up, nor did Goten. Goku's awake again, but he has no idea what to do. Hoi laughs and yells at Tapion, "Now die!" Hildegarn raises his foot into the air and steps on Hoi, crushing him (and obviously, killing him). Hildegarn walks down the street toward Tapion and Trunks. Trunks is ready to fight it, however futile that fight may be, when suddenly, Goku can be heard screaming. Trunks stops.

Above the city floats a full power Super Saiya-jin 3 Son Goku. As he screams, buildings nearby crumble and collapse. Hildegarn turns his head, looking at Goku. "I will not forgive you for this!" He easily dodges a hit from Hildegarn, and Trunks flies in with Tapion's Holy Sword, screaming. He slices cleanly through Hildegarn's tail. Hildegarn roars as his severed tail hits the ground. Trunks is ready to kill Hildegarn, but Goku stops him. "Trunks, let me handle this." Trunks stops, suprised.

Gohan finally wakes up. "Father, his weak point is..."

"I know! It's open for only one second when he attacks." Goku lets Hildegarn hit him, and as he flies back, he turns his head back to Hildegarn. "That's nothing." Hildegarn punches him, and Goku catches it. "Your blows don't even bother me." He pushes Hildegarn's fist back, and Hildegarn roars. "Give me your best shot!" Hildegarn roars again and throws his fist at Goku. Goku catches it, but the force from the punch levels buildings in the background. "If I can't..." He pushes Hildegarn's fist back and ends up on the ground. "If I can't..." He gets his balance and looks up at Hildegarn. "If I can't do it..." Hildegarn roars and attacks again. "...who else can?" Goku dodges the hit and flies at Hildegarn. He pulls back his fist as he leaps toward the behemoth. "RYU KEN!" ("DRAGON FIST!"). Goku's fist is no longer pulled back, but held forward ahead of him. Son Goku disappears in a burst of light and is replaced boy a golden dragon that sort of resembles Shenlon. The dragon flies straight through Hildegarn's torso and then wraps around Hildegarn. Hildegarn roars. There's a bright flash of light, and then Hildegarn is gone. Besides the fact that the city is in ruins, everything returns to normal.

The smoke begins to clear, and Trunks runs forward, still holding the sword. "You did it!" Tapion's amazed. As the smoke clears out, we see a lone figure standing where Hildegarn once was. Son Goku at Super Saiya-jin 3 stands alone, fist to the sky.

Tapion speaks as we look up toward the sky, where energy is dissipating. "The nightmare is finally over... Hildegarn is finally vanquished..."

The Z Senshi are gathered outside Capsule Corporation (or what remains of it, at least). Tapion gets into Bulma's time machine as Goku reassures him. "Don't worry, the people will be brought back to life when I call upon Shenlon again."

Bulma sits half in the machine, messing with things. "Everything's set. This should be able to get you home."

"Thank you."

Trunks, "I thought I had gotten a brother..."

Bulma jumps down, landing beside Trunks. "You can always meet him again with the time machine."

Trunks, "Yeah, that's right!"

Tapion joins the conversation again, holding up his sheathed sword. "Trunks!" Trunks turns and Tapion throws the sword to him.

"You're giving this to me?"

Tapion smiles at him. "I don't need it anymore." Trunks gets excited, and when Trunks gets excited, Goten gets excited. They jump up and down together. "See you again, everybody." He closes the time machine and lifts off. Trunks straps the sword to his back and pursues the time machine, as Tapion watches him through the window. The time machine soars into the air and vanishes. Trunks stops running and smiles.
