Gohan's Resurrection · Is That Kaioushin's Secret Weapon!?

Clouds drift over an empty city. Cars sit in the street as they were when their owners were turned to candy. Babidi's voice cries out, "If those three don't show themselves, Majin Buu will eat everyone!" We see images of an empty street, an empty restaurant, and outside an empty store. The scene is very much like towns that were completely wiped out by Cell before he absorbed the Artificial Humans. Majin Buu and Babidi stand on a cliff overlooking the city. "Well then, now that no one lives in this city, there's no reason for it to exist, is there?" Buu nods. Babidi grins. "Well then, I guess we should clean up the mess. Clean it up, Majin Buu. Don't work too hard or you'll destroy the Earth." Buu smiles and holds his fists up in the air. "Okay! Okay!" He lowers his arms as the Z Senshi watch from God's Palace (From last episode: Babidi is transmitting the image to everyone on Earth). Goku stares ahead with seriousness that we rarely see in him. "He's getting too confident." Piccolo just makes his normal "kch" sounds; Popo and Dende are silent.

Majin Buu pulls back as he inhales, and his body actually bloats up with all the air. Babidi giggles and hides behind some rocks so as not to be caught by a stray blast or flying debris. Buu continues to inhale until his stomach alone is almost as large as his entire body usually is. Still giggling, Babidi lowers himself behind his protective rocks as Buu blows back out all the air, sweeping across the city and leveling every building with the strong force of the concentrated wind. The city, or whatever remains of it, is lost behind a cloud of dust; finally, Buu's air runs out. He smiles and pats himself on the stomach. Babidi peers around his rocks as the dust begins to clear. The city finally begins to come back into view, but instead of a city, now there's just a huge pile of wreckage. Babidi turns around, grinning. "Maybe it's too dusty now. I'll tell you one more time. This person..." An image of Piccolo. "...this person..." An image of Trunks. "...and this person." An image of Goten.

People stand frozen in cities that have yet to be leveled. At God's Palace, Piccolo's clenched teeth and angry glare make his frustration at the situation more than obvious. He continues making his "kch" sounds. Goku, on the other hand, is silent. Inside, the kids are still asleep. Buu does a little jig in the background while Babidi demands once more, "Tell me where those three are now, if you don't want to be turned into candy and eaten by Majin Buu." Piccolo clenches his fists, his "kch" turning to a growl as he attempts to keep himself under control. Babidi grins. "By the way, I'm going to kill every Earthling in five days, so you'd better tell me fast." As he gives his ultimatum, Buu pops up in the background, making faces. Babidi laughs. Goku puts his hand on Piccolo's shoulder. "Piccolo, don't forget that Shenlon can do anything." Piccolo relaxes slightly and Goku removes his hand. Babidi, "I almost forgot something very important! How to contact me... Call to me in your head, concentrate just a bit, and you'll be able to talk to me. I really hope to be contacted by the people I'm looking for."

At the Tenkaichi Budokai, a couple attendants are talking. The shorter one says, "I've seen those three before." In a city, a worried man says, "If we don't find them quickly, he's going to turn us into candy and eat us!" Some other man (maybe in some other city), "Doesn't anyone know who they are!?" Woman, "I don't know who they are, but let's find out where they're hiding! I hope they come out of hiding! It's their fault if we're turned into candy and eaten!" A student holds his book in one hand and adjusts his glasses with the other. "If I'm turned into candy and eaten, that would mean that all the studying I've done for the test so far will be meaningless." He drops the book. "I'll have wasted my life!!" A man and woman stand together. Man, "We're scheduled to be married tomorrow." Woman, "We've worked really hard and scrimped for it, too." She closes her eyes, then suddenly looks up at her fiance. "Where's my rock!?" She grabs his tie as he responds, "It's not my fault!!"

Buu continues his little dance in the background. Babidi, "I've already gotten a call!" He grins. Voice, "Well, I worked at the Tenkaichi Budokai we held today." Babidi smiles as Buu floats by in the background. "Please go on." We go to the attendants at the Budokai now as the shorter one reports, "Those three were at the contest." Babidi, "I see, please continue." Attendant, "Their names are...Ma Junior," he flips a page, "...and the kids are...Trunks and Goten." Babidi grins. "I don't really care about the names. Just tell me where they live." Buu flips around in the background. "You want their addresses too? I can't do that." Babidi, "Just their names? That doesn't do me any good!" The attendant cries out in fear. "Uh, well..." Babidi concentrates and the man's face begins to bloat up, his glasses shattering. His companion shrinks away in fear. Finally, his head explodes and he falls to the ground. The other attendant jumps back. "His head...!" Babidi, "I don't want unimportant information or crank calls, or you'll die just as he did." Goku's eyes are closed, "That was horrible..." Piccolo goes on with the "kch" sounds. Kuririn and Number 18 stand side by side with eyes closed; Marron stands in front of Number 18, looking up at her. Everyone else stands clustered nearby with Bulma at the front of the group, and of course, they all have their eyes closed. Buu stands on his hands and pushes himself up and down in the background. Babidi, "I'm very busy now. I have to go out now and destroy the Earthlings, all the cities, and the planet itself. Majin Buu, let's go!" Buu turns around on his hands and makes some random sound.

Buu flies out over the wrecked city with Babidi on his back. Babidi, "I might be visiting you next! Just to tell you, hiding won't do you any good. In five days, I'll destroy the entire planet. I'm going to blow the whole thing to bits! I'm waiting for information."

Piccolo opens his eyes. "Damn it! That bastard...!" Dende, "I can't believe how evil he is..." Popo, "He's given me a headache." Bulma, "He killed Vegeta and Gohan-kun..." Kuririn, "I don't know what we're going to do about this one." Dende, "He might really destroy the Earth in five days." Piccolo, "We don't need anymore victims. I'll go to him." Goku, "Don't say stupid things, Piccolo. If you die, who will teach Goten and Trunks the fusion after I'm gone?" He pauses. "If they don't learn fusion, there's no one who can beat Majin Buu." Piccolo makes a "kch" sound. "He's going to destroy the planet no matter what you do anyway." Piccolo looks away from Goku, straight ahead. Goku, "He's going to kill a lot of people before the kids master fusion. All of those people are counting on you." Piccolo lowers his head. "We can bring back everyone and restore the Earth with the Dragon Balls, so don't let him get to you." Dende steps forward. "He's right." Kuririn, "Yeah, we have to endure for now." Piccolo thinks it over and after several seconds, finally responds. "I understand."

Trunks moves around a little, then suddenly sits up. "Huh?" His eyes are only half open and his hair sticks out in several directions. "Where are we?" He looks around. "Huh? Hm... I don't know this place." He turns to Goten and begins shaking him. "Hey, Goten. Wake up. Hey! Goten!" He lightly hits him on the face. Goten rolls over, smiling. Trunks crosses his arms and stares down at him, frustrated. "Hmph. Dumb kid. ...I know!" he leans over and whispers in Goten's ear, "Goten! Time to eat!" Goten's eyes fly open. "Huh?" He bolts up, smiling; Trunks is thrown off the bed. "Where!? Where's the food?" Trunks climbs back up off the floor. "Dummy, he thinks with his stomach." Goten looks over toward the voice and sees Trunks at the side of the bed. "Ah, Trunks-kun! Where are we?" He looks around. Trunks, "I don't know. I've never been here." Goten, "Me neither. Wow! That plate looks expensive!" He points to a plate sitting in the corner of the room. Trunks, "More important than that, why are we here?" He looks off to the side and they both sit in silence for several seconds until Trunks suddenly gasps. "Where's Papa!?" Goten, "That's right. We were..." Trunks, "...knocked out by Papa!" Vegeta smiles, hugging Trunks. "Take care, Trunks." Trunks, "Huh?" He looks up and gets hit in the side of the head. He falls to the ground, fading out of Super Saiya-jin on the way. "Trunks-kun!" Goten runs over and grabs Vegeta. "Why!? Why did you hit Trunks-kun? That was mean! Why?" Vegeta pulls back and hits him in the stomach. Goten grabs his stomach and falls to the ground, also fading out of Super Saiya-jin as he passes out. "Trunks-kun, where is he?" Trunks shakes his head. "Goten, let's find out where we are." Goten nods.

A door opens onto a hallway around a round building. Trunks steps out, followed by Goten. Trunks leans back against the wall, first looking down the hall and then up to the ceiling. He begins running down the hall with Goten a few feet behind him. They enter another room through brown double-doors that are several times taller than they are. They peer into the room before walking in. Trunks, "What's with this place?" They look around. Goten, "There's nothing here."

Popo stands over the empty bed. "Where did those kids go?"

A yellow circle of light appears in a grassy area on another planet. Several moons (or other planets) hang in the purple sky, which darkens temporarily with the new light. Kibit, Kaioushin, and Gohan appear in the middle as the light fades away. Kibit kneels. Kaioushin smiles and looks from Gohan to Kibit. "Kibit, restore Son Gohan-san's power." Kibit nods. "Alright." He holds a hand out over Gohan and both of them begin to glow. Waves of yellow light move out from Kibit's hand over Gohan's body. His injuries fade and slowly, his eyes open. "Huh?" He sits up. "Huh?" He looks over to Kaioushin. "Kaioushin-sama..." Kibit stands, and Gohan follows suit. "Where am I?" Kaioushin, "This is Kaioushin Kai, my planet." Gohan, "Eh? Your planet?" He smiles. "I see! I guess I must be dead." He scratches his cheek, then reaches over his head to search for the halo that isn't to be found. "Huh? Why don't I have a halo like Dad?" Kaioushin, "No, you're fine. You were in danger, but you're still alive." Gohan, "Oh. So why am I here?" Kibit, "That's not the proper form of address for Kaioushin Kai." [Not sure what he means, but my guess would be it was something in Gohan's wording on the question. In DBGT, Chichi scolds Bebi Goten for asking where Vegeta is in a colloquial, "impolite" wording...probably the same deal here.] "Not even the lowly Kami or Kaious are allowed on Kaioushin Kai." Gohan, "Ah?" He points up at Kibit. "I know you died. Can you bring yourself back from the dead?" Kibit is a little taken aback, it seems, or at least that's what his surprised expression is saying. "N-no, that's not what happened... I don't know what happened myself. I don't know why I'm alive." He stares off into the sky. Gohan, "I see." He turns back to Kaioushin. "Why did you bring me here?" Kibit, "I don't know either. Kaioushin-sama, why did you bring a human to this holy planet?" Kaioushin steps forward, smiling. "I want him to use the Zetto Sword to defeat Majin Buu. I'm sure that Gohan-san can use that sword." Kibit's eyes go wide and he leans forward as he screams, "Z-Zetto Sword!?" Gohan shrinks away from the outburst. "Are you sure of yourself!? There's no way a human could use the Zetto Sword! No one's been able to budge that legendary sword! Not me or any of a number of Kaioushin-sama!" Kaioushin smiles. "You were dead, so you don't know..." He smiles at Gohan. "You don't know Gohan-san's unbelievable power." Gohan, "Zetto Sword...?" Kibit, "We couldn't possibly...!" Kaioushin, "Let's at least try it out. Follow me, Son Gohan-san." He turns and starts to walk away. After several steps, he stops, looks back, and then lifts into the air. Gohan runs forward and follows him. Kibit finally begins to regain his composure. "What's Kaioushin-sama thinking? There's no way a human could use the Zetto Sword." He takes off after them.

At God's Palace, Goten and Trunks have helped themselves to some food. "This food is good, isn't it, Trunks-kun? So what is this place and where are Piccolo-san and the others?" He looks around the room as he continues eating and asking his question simultaneously. "Goten, you shouldn't talk while eating. You kind of have bad manners. You know you should be quiet when eating." Goten lowers his head. "I'm sorry, Trunks-kun." Trunks, "As long as you know." Popo's voice, "I've found you!" They both look up from their food. Goten, "Hm?" Popo steps into the room behind Trunks. "You've got good appetites, so there's no worry." He grabs Trunks. Trunks, "What are you doing!? I know we shouldn't have taken food without your permission, but you had all this food, so we thought it would be alright if we took some!" Popo lifts him out of his seat. He carries on a futile struggle while Goten continues eating as if nothing has happened. "Damn it! Let me go, you big jerk! Hey, Goten, this isn't the time to eat!" Goten calmly replies, "Trunks-kun, it's bad manners to yell like that." And he continues eating. "Idiot!" Goten, "You're the one that said we should be quiet when we eat." Trunks, "It was my fault for counting on you." He turns Super Saiya-jin and the sudden charge of his ki throws Popo, Goten, and the table away. On the floor and covered in food, Popo sits up. "He's a lot stronger than Son Goku was as a child." Trunks, "Goten, let's get out of here!" Goten turns Super Saiya-jin. "Yeah!" They both head for the exit.

Popo reaches up and grabs both of them by an ankle. "Wait." Trunks, "Let's go!" Goten, "Yeah!" And they both take off. They knock out the door on their way out and drag Popo into the hall. Trunks attacks, but Popo manages to field them pretty well. "Goten, get out of here now!" Goten, "Okay!" He starts to fly away. Popo vanishes. Trunks, "Huh?" He reappears in front of Goten, blocking his escape. Goten, "Wow!" He attacks, and once again, Popo does pretty well, but is finally thrown back by a kick. Trunks appears next to Goten. "That was good, Goten." Goku, "Hey, you two, cut that out." They look back at Goku behind them. Goten smiles. "Dad!" Trunks, "Mister..." Popo sits up. "Goku, those two kids are filled with energy." Goku, "Yeah. We're going to have to put these kids to work." Popo smiles. "If these kids use fusion, they'll form a great warrior." Goten, "Huh?"

Kaioushin leads Gohan and Kibit over Kaioushin Kai toward the Zetto Sword. Gohan, "This is a nice planet." He smiles down at the landscape below. It looks a lot like where I live." He laughs. Kibit looks back at him. "Those clothes don't fit this holy planet." Gohan, "Huh?" Kibit surrounds him with a ball of white light and Gohan's ragged Great Saiyaman undersuit disappears, replaced by clothes like those worn by Kaioushin. Kaioushin laughs. "Those look good on you, Gohan-san." Gohan looks down at his new clothes. "You think so?"

"There it is, Son Gohan-san." Gohan smiles and looks up to see a small "mountain" (like the one on which Saichorou's house sat on Planet Namek, but much smaller). They land on top; a sword sticks out of the ground in the middle. Kaioushin smiles and everyone is silent for several seconds. Finally, Kaioushin breaks the silence by stating the obvious. "This sword is the Zetto Sword." Gohan steps forward and begins examining it. "Pull it out, please. As far as I know, no one has been able to pull this sword out." Gohan crouches down in front of it. "Pull it out, eh?" He taps the end of it (the name of which is escaping me right now...). "That reminds me of an old story..." Kaioushin and Kibit stand over him, Kaioushin smiling and Kibit still a bit unsure about this whole thing.

"YOU'RE LYING! Papa would never let himself get killed by someone like that!! You're lying! You're lying! You're lying!!" Tears stream down Trunks' face. Goten bawls. "Brother's dead!" Goku, "Don't cry! You don't have the time for that! If you want to get back at him, learn a new technique from me. Do you understand?" Both of them control themselves and turn to him, barely keeping the floodgates closed. "It's tough, but we don't know when Babidi will learn about this place, so you're going to have to start training now." Piccolo turns to Goku. "Do you want to use the Room of Spirit and Time?" Goku, "No, you can only use that room for two days in your entire life, right? It might become necessary to use it later." Piccolo, "Hm." Goku, "Don't worry. I'm sure these two can learn fusion quickly. I'm going to start." Goten and Trunks don't even look up, still only barely controlling themselves. "Piccolo, you watch closely too." Piccolo nods. The rest of the group is clustered down the hall. Kuririn, "Do your best, Trunks and Goten." Goten and Trunks still can't even raise their heads. Goku, "You can't cry for long. You have to defeat Majin Buu!" The tears disappear and they both finally look up, first Trunks and then Goten.

On Kaioushin Kai, Gohan smiles and wraps his hands around the handle of the Zetto Sword...
