This Can't Be True!! The Zetto Sword Breaks

"FU...SION..." Piccolo, "One more time!" Kids, "FU...SION...HA!" They complete the fusion dance as Piccolo hovers over them. "You're still not doing it right! How many times are you going to have to do this!?" He flies over to them and descends, but doesn't land. "You need to get your timing in sync." Both kids sigh; Trunks rubs his forehead. "Don't you understand? The fusion technique is meant to join you together. No matter how well you do individually, you have to work together to get it right." Trunks, "But Goten is too slow!" Goten, "No way! Trunks-kun, you're too fast!" Trunks, "What was that!?" Goten, "That's the truth!" Trunks tackles Goten, but Goten jumps back up and pushes Trunks back. Piccolo jumps between them, pushing Trunks and Goten away from each other. "Behave yourselves! You don't have time to fight! After you defeat Majin Buu, you can fight each other all you want." Trunks and Goten still fight against him, but after a few more moments, both give up and Piccolo steps back again. He sighs. "Alright! Let's continue." Both kids, in unison, "Fine..."

"FU...SION...HA!" Piccolo, "One more time." Sitting outside, Kuririn, Number 18, Bulma, and Muten Roshi can clearly hear the training inside as they play cards. As Roshi tries to decide which card to play, he comments, "Oh boy, and we thought they'd finally gotten serious." He reaches over, takes a card from Bulma, then takes one of his own that appears to match it and throws them both into the pile of cards in the center. Both cards bear pictures of Mr. Satan. Kuririn, "But do you think they'll really be able to fuse?" Kuririn reaches for one of Muten Roshi's cards, but behind Roshi, he sees Number 18 shaking her head, urging him not to take the one he's reaching for. He looks back and forth from his cards to her. Muten Roshi, "Huh?" He suddenly looks back at Number 18, who looks away and pretends she wasn't paying any attention. Bulma, oblivious to the cheating, "It'll be okay. They can do it. There's no reason for Son-kun to lie about something like this." Ignoring Number 18's advice, Kuririn takes the card. Number 18 makes a face and Kuririn is a little less than happy when he finds he took the joker (a picture of Mr. Satan as a devil). Number 18 sighs, her hair falling over her face as she slumps her shoulders.

On Kaioushin Kai, the training goes on. The sword spins around in the air and Gohan catches it by the handle as he leaps into the sky. With one hand, he begins rapidly swinging it around in various directions, then grabs it with both hands for a powerful downward swing over his head before he continues his rapid swinging, this time with both hands. He pauses for a moment, holding the sword out in front of him, then up over his head and to his left (viewer's right). He begins swinging again. On the ground, Son Goku sits on a boulder and nearby, Kaioushin and Kibit stand side by side as all three watch Gohan. Gohan stops swinging to make a few powerful thrusts, stabbing straight out, then he begins swinging again. After a few more, he holds the sword over his head, grabbing the blade with his free hand and simply holding it there. He lands. Goku claps. "Wow, you've gotten pretty good at that!" Gohan lowers the sword and rubs the back of his head. Goku, "You've gotten pretty good with that thing in just a day! You're great, Gohan." Kaioushin steps forward. "Really, you're superb, Gohan-san." Kibit growls; Gohan rubs his head. Goku, "I bet that Zetto Sword has a great edge. Try it out." Gohan, "That's a good idea." Goku, "Let's see..." He looks around, then notices the boulder he's sitting on. "Hm?" He pats it a few times. "Alright." Kaioushin, "Huh?" He looks over and sees Goku bending over and grabbing the boulder. "Let's start with this boulder!" He lifts it into the air. Kibit, "Huh!?" He cries out in shock and his eyes nearly pop out of his head as he sees Goku lift the boulder over his head. "Okay! Let's go, Gohan! Cut this thing in half!" Gohan, "I'll probably be able to cut right through it like tofu! At least I can with this Zetto Sword." He holds it up like a baseball bat. Sunlight glints off the blade. "Okay!" Goku throws the boulder. When it reaches Gohan, he screams and slashes at the boulder. It splits in two and lands behind him. Kibit is stunned. Kaioushin laughs. "You did it, Gohan-san!" Gohan, "Yeah." Goku, "Whew! That does have a nice edge on it!" Kaioushin, "Goku-san." Goku, "Hm?" Kaioushin, "Let's test it out on something harder next!" Kibit, "Huh?" Kaioushin raises his arm into the air and everyone looks over his head as a shiny black cube materializes. "Goku-san, use this." He directs it toward Goku and drops it on him. Goku holds his arms up to catch it and, for a moment, it almost looks like it might be too heavy even for him. After a moment, though, he steadies himself and is able to stand straight up with it above his head. "What's this?" Kaioushin, "It's said to be the hardest metal in the universe. It's Katchin alloy." Goku knocks on it. "This is hard!" Kaioushin, "We should at least test the sword with that." Goku, "Okay, that's a great idea!" He steps forward and gets ready to throw it. "Okay, Gohan! Let's go!" Goku pulls his arms back and Gohan prepares himself. Goku throws. Gohan tightens his grip and swings with a scream. The blade hits; the tip drives into the surface of the cube and the sword begins to bend. The tip slides a little up and down, creating a few sparks, then suddenly, the blade breaks. Gohan, then Kaioushin, and then Kibit all go through "eyes on the verge of exploding" expressions. Goku's says something closer to, "Well, didn't see that one coming..." The cube continues over Gohan's head, hits the ground, and keeps sliding through the dirt, creating a small trench.

Gohan looks down at the broken sword. "I don't believe it! I broke the sword!" Kibit's jaw seems about to fall off. Kaioushin, "T-That's impossible! Y-you broke the Zetto Sword!" Kibit, "H-how did you do that to the strongest sword!?" Goku simply stands with his arms crossed, looking mildly disappointed. "Kaioushin-sama, it's your fault for wanting to test it on something so strong." Kaioushin, "T-the legend said that whoever had the sword would be the strongest in the universe!" Kibit, "I-I-It's the legendary sword of this holy planet!" Gohan looks down at the broken blade. "It looks like the legend wasn't true." He drops the broken sword in the grass. Kaioushin simply stares at it with saucer eyes, but says nothing more. "B-but, I've gotten much stronger because of it. That Zetto Sword was impossibly heavy." Gohan throws a few punches to demonstrate. "Maybe that's how it was supposed to make you the strongest in the universe." Kaioushin, suddenly hopeful again, "I-I see! If you've gotten that much stronger in your normal form, just think how much stronger you'll be when you turn Super Saiya-jin!" Kibit enthusiastically nods his agreement.

Sunlight glints off the broken sword and suddenly, black concentric rings begin emanating across the ground from the sword's new edge. No one notices. Kaioushin, "T-that's right! That's the secret to ultimate strength!" Goku, "But he's still not stronger than Majin Buu." Kaioushin, "But Goku-san, to think otherwise..." A new voice interrupts. "You're wrong!" Kibit and Kaioushin are both about to have a coronary after today. Once again, their eyes nearly pop out of their heads. They slowly turn around and see an old man in clothes similar to theirs standing behind them. Goku, "What? Who is that old man?" Gohan, "Huh?" Kaioushin, "E-Excuse me, who are you?" Old man, "Are you talking to me? You'll really be surprised when you find out. You see, I am the Kaioushin from fifteen generations back." Kaioushin, "Huh!? Y-y-you're the Kaioushin from fifteen generations back!?" Kibit, "K-Kaioushin-sama!?" Goku looks back to Gohan, who simply shrugs. The old Kaioushin simply stands there.

--COMMERCIAL--

The road into Enma's check-in station is quite crowded. Enma writes information down as a crowd of spirits stands before him. "E-excuse me, Enmadaiou-sama." Enma, "What is it?" Demon, "Could we please end our shift now?" Enma, "What!?" He leans up over his desk. Another demon, "We've all worked ourselves to the bone and we've barely been able to grab a bite to eat." First demon, "We're all worried that if this keeps up, we'll be standing in that line too." Enma sits back. "I wish I could take a break too, but we can't delay the dead." The demons lower their heads in defeat and sigh. Enma, "It's our duty to judge the dead and then guide them to their..." He leans over his desk again, getting right in their faces as he yells, "...rewards!" Both of them shrink away. Another demon comes running in. "Enmadaiou-sama, more bad news!" Enma, "What is it now?" Demon, "Another 150,000 dead have arrived from Earth!" Enma jumps up. "What!?" The two demons who were pleading for a break simply fall to the ground (not an anime fall). Enma, "What in the world is going on down on Earth?"

"You're my ancestor from fifteen generations back!?" Kibit, "Kaioushin-sama!?" Rou Kaioushin, "That's right." He coughs. "Long, long ago, there was an incredibly strong evil fellow." He pauses. "Although probably not as strong as Majin Buu. He sealed me into that sword. He did it because he was so terrified of me. That must be why he did it." He nods, clears his throat, and stretches. "I'm glad I'm finally out at last." Goku looks back at Gohan. "He doesn't look very strong." Gohan rubs the back of his head. "I guess." Goku, "Well, shall we test him?" Gohan, "Huh? I-I don't know..." Goku holds out his hand, forms a small yellow ki blast, and throws it. It flies between Kibit and Kaioushin, who are shocked by it, and then it continues straight toward Rou Kaioushin's face. He opens his eyes just in time to see it before it hits. He cries out in pain, and needless to say, everyone is pretty much thrown for a loop by that one. Rou Kaioushin falls back, a cloud of smoke enveloping his head. Kibit and Kaioushin rush to his aid. Kaioushin, "Gosenzo-sama!" Kibit, "Are you alright!? Hang in there!" Rou Kaioushin slowly opens his eyes, then suddenly jumps to his feet. "Jackass! What in the hell do you think you're doing!?" He starts calling Goku names (which I'm sure weren't faithfully translated...somehow, I don't picture someone like Rou Kaioushin calling someone a "dick-weed"). "How dare you try to do something like that to a revered Kaioushin like me!" Goku, "He's just another dirty old man." Gohan, "He's not strong at all."

Skip forward a few minutes. Rou Kaioushin has gotten cleaned up it seems, and begins explaining, "He wasn't scared of my strength. He was afraid of my 'power'." Goku, "Is it a..." Gohan, "...strong power?" They look at each other, then Goku steps forward. "What is it?" Rou Kaioushin crosses his arms and turns away. "I'm not going to tell you." He taunts Goku like a third-grader, and Kaioushin doesn't know quite how to react. Goku rubs the back of his head. "Oh well. I'll give you a dirty magazine if you tell me!" Gohan's shocked. "Dad...!" Kaioushin, "Goku-san, what are you saying!?" Rou Kaioushin, "I don't need books like that when I have god-like eyes!" His eyes go wide and he holds his hand over them as if to block out the sun as he looks around. "I can just watch them taking showers and changing clothes." Kibit and Kaioushin simultaneously anime-fall. Kaioushin, "G-Gosenzo-sama!" Goku smiles. "Okay, how about if I let you touch a real girl's breasts?" Rou Kaioushin, "R-Really?" Goku, "It'll be perfect!" Rou Kaioushin laughs. Goku, "He's just like Kamesennin!" Gohan taps his shoulder and whispers, "What are you going to do, Dad?" Goku grabs his shoulders. "I can't go to the lower world anymore, but you can talk your girlfriend, Videl, into doing it. I'm sorry, just let him touch her a little." Gohan's face suddenly turns crimson. "That's not funny! Do you know what you're asking!?" Goku, "Really? What else can we do?"

Back at God's Palace, everyone is pretty much just sitting around, still playing cards. Muten Roshi, "...but I don't know anything about all this Super Saiya-jin 3 and fusion business." He draws a card. "They've gone far beyond anywhere I can reach." He looks down at his cards. "Huh?" Number 18 takes an interest in them as well, unbeknownst to him. Kuririn, "It looks like this time... Here..." He plays two cards and takes two more back. "...We won't have a chance to do anything. Okay." Bulma, "That's not true. There's still something we can do." She draws a card. "I'm going to finish this." She lays out her cards, including an ace with Satan as an angel. Disappointed, Kuririn and Muten Roshi toss their cards up. Bulma smiles.

Suddenly, Goku gets an idea. He runs over to Rou Kaioushin. "Hey, do you mind if she's a little older?" Rou Kaioushin, "As long as she looks good, I don't care." Goku runs back to Gohan. "Alright! We can use Bulma! You can tell Bulma about the deal!" Gohan, "You want me to ask Bulma-san to do that!?" Goku asks Rou Kaioushin, "Will your power be enough to let him beat Majin Buu?" Rou Kaioushin, "It's not certain, but I think it'd have a good chance." Goku turns back to Gohan. "Think about it! She can save the Earth -- no, the universe -- just by letting him touch her breasts!" Gohan, "Isn't that prostitution? You want me to ask, right? Even if he saves the universe, Bulma-san will kill me." Goku runs back over to Rou Kaioushin. "Okay!" Rou Kaioushin slaps Goku's hands. "It's decided, then!" Goku, "So what is this 'power'?" Rou Kaioushin clears his throat and walks away. After several steps, he stops and turns back around, grinning. "I can use my psychic ability to make even the strongest figher surpass his natural limits. I bet you've never heard of a power like that before!" Kaioushin and Kibit are amazed, but Goku simply scratches his cheek. "That's a pretty common ability." Rou Kaioushin runs over to him. "What are you talking about!? This is PAST his limits! There's no one that strong!" Goku, "I guess you're right about that..." He laughs. Rou Kaioushin turns to Gohan. "Hey, you were the one to take the sword out, weren't you?" Gohan points at himself questioningly. "Come with me." Gohan complies. "Okay." Rou Kaioushin, "If you're strong enough to take that sword out and swing it around, I can make you the strongest fighter in the universe." He turns from Gohan to Kaioushin and Kibit. "But I was hoping a Kaioushin would release me from that prison by pulling out the sword." Kaioushin says nothing. "It's the end of the world if I had to rely on a human." Kaioushin stares at the ground. "I'm terribly sorry."

Rou Kaioushin walks over to Gohan. "Okay. Stand right there and try not to move." Gohan straightens up. "Okay!" Rou Kaioushin, "Then, let's go..." He suddenly throws out his arms and yells, "Defeat Majin Buu!" Goku, then Kibit behind him, then Kaioushin beside Kibit, step up to watch. Kaioushin swallows as he watches. Rou Kaioushin makes a few gestures with his hands, then begins walking a circle around Gohan, doing little poses as he goes. Gohan's not quite sure what to think. Rou Kaioushin begins singing as he walks. Everyone just sort of stares. Gohan, "Uh, excuse me..." Rou Kaioushin, "Shut up. This is an important ritual." Gohan, "This is a ritual...?" Rou Kaioushin completes his first circle and begins a second, this time doing different poses. As the "ritual" goes on, we're treated to some images of Kaioushin Kai -- a small waterfall, a tree, a stream -- as Rou Kaioushin's chanting is heard. Goku, "Well, uh, excuse me... How long is this going to take?" Rou Kaioushin, "The ritual takes five hours and the power-up takes twenty." Gohan, "Eh!?" Goku rubs his shoulder. "I'm going to take a nap. Hang in there, Gohan." He waves as he walks away. Moving as little as possible, Gohan complains, "That's not fair..." Kaioushin and Kibit watch him walk away, then turn back to the ceremony. Rou Kaioushin continues his little poses and such. Kaioushin, "I think we're obligated to stay awake for this, aren't we?" Kibit, "Probably." Gohan, "This sucks..."

"FU...SION...HA! FU...SION...HA!" The kids put their fingers together. Piccolo, "Alright! That was good. It's almost perfect." Both kids sigh. "Now we'll have to see if you can do it for real. Match your ki's together." Both kids turn their backs to Piccolo and say in unison, "Okay." Trunks looks over to Goten. "Can I really fuse with him? I don't believe this is possible. It seems suspicious." Piccolo, "Alright, start!" Both kids, "Okay!"

On Kaioushin Kai, Gohan is quite unhappy as the power-up continues. Kibit and Kaioushin stand around and watch as Son Goku sleeps under a tree nearby.
