The Birth of the Super Fusion!! His Name is Gotenks

"FUUUUSION! FUUUSION!" Oolong scowls as he, Muten Roshi, and others play cards. Nearby, Number 18, Videl, and Chichi play with Marron. Oolong reaches over to take one of Muten Roshi's cards, stopping his hand over a card bearing Goten's picture. "Hey!" Muten Roshi looks over toward voice to see Yamucha walking out of God's Palace with Puar. He stops when he reaches the group. "Hey, everyone. It looks like the kids are about to test out that fusion thing." Muten Roshi, "Have they finished their training?" Kuririn, "Let's go watch." He stands up and everyone else follows suit. Oolong looks around. "Are all of you going?" He throws down his cards angrily, one with Goten's picture and one with Trunks'. Everyone walks out of the building to the open area at the front. Yamucha, "They said that the fusion unleashes a really strong ki so they're doing it outside to preserve the temple." Kuririn, "We know that by accomplishing this fusion, the two will become a super-warrior, but what do you suppose he's going to look like?" Muten Roshi, "Those kids look a lot alike, so I doubt the looks will change much." Kuririn laughs. "It'll look pretty funny if they come out looking all medieval." He clenches both fists, holding one up in front of him. Chichi, "What are they going to call themselves after they join?" She rubs her chin. "Putting 'Goten' and 'Trunks' together comes out as 'Gotenks.' Either that or Trunten. Neither of those sounds very good, though." Bulma, "What are you talking about? They can only fuse for thirty minutes, so does it really matter?" Chichi, "But what will we do if we want to get his attention?"

Tne entourage approaches Piccolo, Popo, and the kids, already waiting outside. Yamucha, "Oh, there they are." The kids stand a good distance apart and attempt to match their ki's together. Piccolo watches with his arms crossed as the wind they generate blows lightly at his cape. Electricity runs through the floor to Goten's and Trunks' feet. Their hair blows in the self-produced wind. Piccolo, "Trunks, take your ki down a bit." Trunks, "This is hard. This should be right." Piccolo, "Good! Your ki's are exactly the same. Then, start the fusion!" Muten Roshi watches as the kids concentrate intently. Yamucha clenches his fists, exclaiming excitedly, "Here it comes!" Trunks looks over at Goten, who nods back at him. They both look straight ahead and hold their arms out to either side. "FUUUU...SION!" Goten holds out his arms with his fingers clenched into fists, while Trunks holds his arms out with fingers extended. Piccolo notices immediately. "Hm?" But Trunks doesn't, and the kids continue. "HAA!" Goten glows white, Trunks glows pink. Chichi cries out in surprise. "No way!" The whole area is bathed in a bright white/blue light. The two figures of Goten and Trunks, now nothing but light bearing the same shape, cross into each other and join. Kuririn, "Incredible!" In one more bright flash of light that obscures everything in the picture, the fusion completes. Puar screams and is thrown back. Chichi gasps and stumbles backward into Gyuu Maou. The lighting returns to normal. Kuririn opens his eyes and looks around. Yamucha, "Huh?" Popo, "Uh..." Number 18 gasps, her eyes going wide. Kuririn looks over, his eyes still half-closed, to the fusion; what he sees fully opens his eyes. "Huh!?" Standing in front of them is a fusion that would give Majin Buu a run for his money in obesity. Black shoes, white pants, black sash, no shirt, black vest with gold lining, black wristbands, and mostly Goten's hair color with Trunks' running up the sides.

Piccolo is floored. No one really knows what to think. Kuririn looks up to Yamucha. "H-Hey..." Yamucha, "I-Is that it...?" Bulma, "A-Are you sure they can return to normal?" Chichi, "I-I don't think I could love that..." Kuririn, "I-Is that really what Goku thought would be able to overcome Majin Buu?" The fusion does some light stretches (or tries to, anyway). "It doesn't look like it's that strong, but I guess it has to be, right?" Yamucha, "I-I get it! I know what Goku was getting at! You fight fire with fire! You fight a fat guy with a fat guy!" Videl, "It looks like he's about to do something." The fusion turns and begins hobbling away. Yamucha, "He's started running!" After only a few steps, though, the fusion stops, out of breath. Anime fall for everyone else. Muten Roshi, "He's an utter failure." Piccolo, "Hey!" The fusion looks up at Piccolo. "You must be right." The fusion stands up. "Huh?" Piccolo, "During the '-sion!' pose, Trunks had his fingers extended." He demonstrates. "You've got to make a fist at that moment for the fusion to work properly." He clenches his fists to show the correct way. "Got it?" Fusion, "Ah..." Piccolo, "Okay! Let's do it right this time." Nothing happens. "What are you waiting for!? Hurry and change back to normal!" The fusion furrows his brows for a moment, then asks, "How do I do that?" Piccolo, "Huh?" He clears his throat and turns away. "Well then, I guess we wait for thirty minutes." He walks away. Kuririn, "Strange. You're not Goten or Trunks, are you?" Piccolo stops and turns around. "Huh?" Roshi, "How come you're dressed like that?" Videl, "Hey, what happened to Goten-kun?" The fusion looks around, confused. "Huh? Huh? Huh?" Yamucha kneels down in front of him. "Do you have a name?" The fusion replies, "Gotenks." Chichi laughs and claps her hands. "I knew it! I knew he'd choose 'Gotenks'!"

Everyone waits for thirty minutes to pass. Popo, "The thirty minutes are almost up." Suddenly, Gotenks glows white, throwing Roshi back (surprised, I guess...I don't know, he just kind of falls over) and in another flash of light, splits into white Goten and pink Trunks. Chichi, "Goten!" Bulma, "Trunks!" Goten and Trunks examine themselves, then look at each other. Trunks, "D-Did we do it?" Goten, "I don't know." Yamucha smiles. "Hey, what's it feel like to fuse?" They both look up at him. "Hm?" Kuririn, "Don't you remember anything?" Goten nods. Videl, "But you really can do it!" Popo, "We're starting to see the light of hope." Piccolo walks up to the two of them. "I'm sorry, but the talking will have to wait until after Majin Buu has been defeated. We don't have a moment to waste now. Alright, do it over." He walks away.

The two kids are stood several feet apart again outside. Piccolo stands a few feet away, so they form a triangle. Behind PIccolo is everyone else. "Okay, begin." The kids start their fusion dance. "FUUUU...SION! HA!" The tips of their fingers don't touch. In a similar display with white Goten and pink Trunks, they join again. When the light fades, the group is presented with a new Gotenks. In terms of clothing and hair, this one is exactly the same as the first. Instead of being a fat child, though, this one is a feeble old man. Muten Roshi, "They blew it again." Kuririn, "One look says it all." Yamucha, "He hasn't done anything and he's already worn out." Piccolo hangs his head and sighs. "During your 'HA!' pose, your fingers didn't match up. Do it again." Gotenks coughs and turns around, looking as if he's about to collapse. Piccolo, "...in another thirty minutes."

Piccolo stands with his arms crossed, staring down at the two kids again. "Okay, begin." Trunks looks over at Goten, and Goten nods back to him. They're shown as one (with a partially transparent image of Trunks over a partially transparent Goten) and the 'camera' pulls back, separating them as it goes. When it reaches its full distance, the kids' opacity returns. "FUUUUU...SION! HA!" A close-up of each face, then a view from overhead as the 'camera' spins and moves upward over the ball of light. Piccolo, "That was perfect! You did it!" Gotenks' fist swipes at the air. His leg slides over the floor. The 'camera' moves around his face, his eyes closed. "We have a warrior who can defeat Majin Buu!" Majin Buu opens his eyes. The bright light explodes out over God's Palace, then fades away. Piccolo, "W-What!?" Before him stands the real Gotenks. With the same clothes and hair, this is a youthful, very strong-looking Gotenks. Yamucha and Kuririn gasp. Roshi, "I can't believe his storm of ki! They did it! They succeeded!" Videl, "Incredible, incredible!" Bulma, "I can't really tell, but is he all that strong?" Chichi, "He certainly looks strong." Videl looks back at them. "What are you talking about!? Even I can tell that much! He's amazing! He's really amazing!" Piccolo, "Alright! You finally got it right. In another thirty minutes, we can try it as Super Saiya-jin." Gotenks laughs and wags his finger at Piccolo. "Don't you think you're underestimating me?" Piccolo, "What?" Gotenks, "I'm perfectly capable of defeating Majin Buu just the way I am." Piccolo, "I-Idiot! You don't know what you're talking about! You don't know a thing about how strong Majin Buu is! No matter how strong you are now, you still don't stand a chance against Majin Buu!" Gotenks scratches the back of his head, then looks down at his outstreched index finger before clenching his fist. "Don't be stupid!" With his other hand, he points at Piccolo. "Fine, I'll show you! Majin Buu's dead body, that is!" Piccolo, "Huh?" Gotenks begins to rise into the air. "Get back here, Trunten!" Popo, "Gotenks." Gotenks, "There he is. He's not far. I'll have plenty of time to pound him, get back here, and enjoy my glory." Gotenks turns and flies off in the direction of Majin Buu, a confident grin on his face and his left arm outstretched in a fist. Videl, "Wow! He's fast!" Piccolo, "That fool! If he's killed now, it'll be the end of everything!" Kuririn, "He's an arrogant bastard, but he might just be able to pull it off." Yamucha, "He sure seems to have a lot of self-confidence." Everyone watches as Gotenks disappears in the distance.

On Kaioushin Kai, Goku sleeps peacefully under a tree until a butterfly lands on his nose and his own sneeze awakens him. He sits up drowsily as Kibit and Kaioushin look back at him. "Huh?" He looks over at them and stretches with a yawn. "Good morning, Goku-san." Goku, "Kaioushin-sama...?" He smiles and his eyes open fully. "Is he finished powering up Gohan yet?" Kaioushin points over at an obviously unhappy Gohan as Rou Kaioushin dances around him. Goku, "Huh?" Kaioushin, "It's only been two hours since he started. Since that ceremony takes five hours, he's still got three more hours to go." Goku smiles and waves to Gohan. "Hey, Gohan, hang in there!" Gohan mumbles, "Dad, I wasn't expecting it to take this long..."

Small explosions pop up all over a city before one final large one. Majin Buu flies up out of the largest one, laughing gleefully. He sits in the sky over what's left of the city, looking around. He sees far below in the ocean two ships. "You can't get away!" He drops to sealevel and runs across the water out between the two ships. Frightened passengers look out the window at him. He smiles up at them. Man, "Majin...Buu!" Majin Buu stops after he gets ahead of both boats, turns around, and starts running again. He plows right through one of the boats, causing a large explosion on his way through. As it sinks, Buu sits in the air, celebrating his victory, and in the distance, something comes into view. "I did it, I did it! Yea, yea, yea!" He claps his hands. A voice cries out, "Help me!" Buu, "Huh?" Voice, "Help me!!" Buu looks down and sees a human in the water. "What's that?" He lowers himself down to just inches above the water. The man sees him and stops thrashing his arms. He grabs onto Buu's foot and pulls himself up. "Thanks a lot!" Then he realizes who helped him out. He looks around and cries out, "It's M-M-Majin Buu!" Buu, "I don't like you." He grabs the man by his shirt and kicks him screaming into the air. He fires a ki blast that carries the man higher into the sky before eventually exploding. Majin Buu sighs. Suddenly, there's a quick light and a strange noise, and a hole appears in Buu's stomach. "Hm?" He looks down at it. Through the hole, we see the ship in the background, still sinking. Buu immediately closes the hole and looks around angrily. "Hm? Hm? Hm?"

On top of the sinking ship stands Gotenks, his arms crossed. "Hm. You're pretty tough. That was just my way of saying hello. I didn't think it'd hurt you very much." Majin Buu rises up to the same level as Gotenks, but doesn't move any closer to the ship. "Who are you!?" Gotenks, "Hmph. You're going to die here, so why should I waste my time telling you?" Buu, "Die?" Gotenks laughs and adopts a fighting pose. "I'm sorry, but I don't have any time to waste talking to you, fatty.. I'm just here to clean you up." Buu, "You..." Gotenks, "Here I go!" He leaps forward and a dent appears in Buu's stomach without Gotenks' fist even seeming to have come into contact with it. Gotenks begins throwing punches, but we never actually see them connect, we simply see the dents they leave. He throws a flurry of punches, making a trail up from the bottom of his stomach to the top before Gotenks disappears and reappears right above and to the left of Buu's head. He knees Buu hard in the face and Buu flies into a docked ship nearby. Gotenks throws a ki blast in after him and the ship explodes, but Buu flies straight up out of the explosion, an orange ball around him, leaving a trail of fire as he rises into the air. Gotenks appears right next to him and flies up alongside him, reaching into the ball. He grabs Buu by the tassle on top of his head and begins spinning him around. After several rotations, the orange ball around Buu fades away and Gotenks throws him. Not wasting any time, Gotenks forms a ki blast in his still-outstretched arms and throws it at Buu, who lies embedded in the ground nearby. We have the obligatory bright light and large explosion. "Hmph. He wasn't very Maj-ical for a Majin. Oops, I said I'd show everyone the body, but I blew it to bits." He scratches his head. "Oh well, nothing I can do now." The bottom half of Majin Buu rises up near Gotenks. "What!?" Gotenks watches in shock as a large pink sphere rises up from the point at about Buu's waste where everything has been cut off. From the sphere emerge two arms and then Buu's head. Buu throws out his arms and legs and screams. Gotenks, "Huh!?"

Majin Buu, "You called me fat, didn't you? You've made me angry!" Steam pours out of some of the holes on his head. "So what are you going to do about it?" Buu glares at him. "Kill you." Buu disappears, then reappears right in front of Gotenks. Gotenks barely manages to dodge his punch, but yells out, "You're too slow!" Majin Buu simply throws another punch and this time, connects. Gotenks screams as he plummets. "I-Impossible! I thought I'd killed him! Was he just doing that to read my movements!?" Majin Buu disappears from his spot in the sky, reappears right above Gotenks, and hits him again. From there, he begins beating up on Gotenks as they both fall toward the ocean below. They plunge below the water, sending out large waves as Buu continues to pummel Gotenks. Finally, Buu picks him up, bruised and beaten, and hits him one last time with his head. Gotenks screams as he's thrown back, landing embedded in the concrete wall at the water's edge in front of the city. Buu forms a ki blast between his hands. "Die." And suddenly, there's a loud booming noise and the water is thrown up around Buu as the military arrives, rolling tanks right up to the water's edge and sending planes out. Soldier into a megaphone, "Majin Buu, as long as this defense unit survives, you won't destroy another city. Alright! Open fire!"

Gotenks, "D-Don't! You can't beat him! Hurry and run!" But the miliary remains, unleashing a non-stop barrage on Majin Buu that creates basically a continuous fireball around him. With a yellow ki shield around him, Buu slowly rises up out of the explosion, arms crossed, in a sitting position. Soldier, "W-What!?" Majin Buu glares at them. "All of you...!" Gotenks, "Stop!!" Buu, "Die!!" An explosion erupts around him, expanding out. Soldier, "This is impossible!" He shields his eyes. Gotenks screams as the explosion reaches him. When it's over, an enormous crater sits beside the city. Buu throws his fist into the air, celebrating his victory. "Yeah! I'm going to go kill some more!"

At God's Palace, everyone simply stands around, waiting, worried. Suddenly, a bloody and beaten Gotenks arrives. Kuririn, "Ah, he's back." Chichi, "G-Goten!" Bulma, "Trunks!" Gotenks, who has his back to them, turns around and laughs weakly. "He wiped the floor with me." Everyone simply stands there for a second, then there's a delayed anime fall. Piccolo walks out, glowering at him. "I warned you! Now then, your fight with Majin Buu isn't until tomorrow. You're going to keep training until then." He points at Gotenks. "It will be more effective to get you as strong as possible before you fuse. Got it, Trunten!?" Popo, "Excuse me, it's Gotenks." Piccolo, "Got it, Gotenks!?" Gotenks hangs his head and sighs.
