Weakness in Super Trunks!! Cell's Very Shocking Statement

[The summary covering Japanese episode 165 has been written based on the manga, because I don't have the anime episode. When the subtitled DVD containing this episode is released, I will rewrite this based on the anime.]

Trunks leaps toward Cell, who stands ready to counter. Piccolo watches from God's Shrine. "He's so strong... stronger than Cell! I can't believe it." Bulma, "What? Who? Don't keep it to yourself! Tell us!" Piccolo, "Trunks, naturally!" Bulma, "Trunks? Great!" Meanwhile, in the Room of Spirit and Time, the Saiya-jin father and son duo continue their training...

Son Gohan turns Super Saiya-jin. He leaps forward, attacking simply the air while Goku watches. "Wow! In such a short time... He's really going to go far." Gohan flies straight up and looks down at Goku. "All father has been doing lately is sitting there. I guess surpassing the level of Super Saiya-jin is very difficult!" He continues his training versus the air around him. Finally, he lands and phases out of Super Saiya-jin. He hunches over, breathing heavily. He looks over at Son Goku, who turns Super Saiya-jin. Goku screams, "HAAAAA!" He suddenly bulks up, amazing Gohan. Gohan flies over to Goku. "Dad, that's great! You've done it! You've surpassed the level of Super Saiya-jin!" Goku ponders silently for a moment, then speaks. "I think I can advance a bit further into that transformation I need." Gohan, "Eh?" Goku, "HAAAAAA!" And, to Gohan's surprise, his muscles grow again. Gohan looks up at Goku. "Wow! You're really strong! Now you can defeat Cell, right?!" Goku is silent.

Trunks rushes at Cell, but Cell dodges the punches. Trunks looks back at him, continues to attack, continues to miss. He flies all over the place, trying to attack Cell, but Cell always manages to get away. He tries an overhead smash, misses. "Damn it!" Cell lands and looks up at him, laughing.

"I don't think I can beat him yet... I can't..." Gohan, "Eh?" Goku, "With these augmented muscles, even though I'm stronger, I'm also slower." He phases out of Super Saiya-jin. "No matter how strong I am, if I can't hit him, it's useless, right? Besides, I'd waste too much energy. A regular Super Saiya-jin has a better balance between speed and strength." Gohan, "This, I already understand..." Goku, "From now on, all the time, except when we sleep, we'll be Super Saiya-jin and we'll get used to it until this constitutes our normal state. I'll start with trying to eliminate the nervousness we feel when we're in a Super Saiya-jin state. Then we'll start with the most basic training. It may seem like a waste of time, but I think it's for the best." Gohan responds with an enthusiastic "Okay!"

Trunks, "It's... horrible! I can't believe it! I can't land a punch!" Cell, "You're just an amateur. I didn't think you were so ignorant. Saying you were going to show me all the strength you have, you've just changed into a form that gives you more brute force." Cell suddenly bulks up. Smiling, he continues. "A change like this is quite easy to attain." Trunks gasps at Cell's minor transformation.

Cell finishes his own bulk-up transformation. "You won't get much out of this transformation. You're just a fool." Trunks gasps. "I understand now... That's why Father didn't undergo this power-up... He knew what would happen! Like you said... I'm a fool..." Trunks phases out of Super Saiya-jin and lands across from Cell. Not even willing to look up at Cell, he speaks. "I've lost my will to fight. Kill me." Cell stares at him with his arms crossed, then smiles. "I think I will."

Kuririn follows the fight from the island where he and Vegeta have landed. "Trunks' ki has suddenly gotten a lot smaller. Why? What's going on? Cell's ki is as big as ever. Has Trunks been defeated? This is horrible! He said he would win!" He shoves a senzu into Vegeta's mouth. "Vegeta, eat your senzu!"

Cell holds his arm out, preparing to blast Trunks. "I'm really disappointed with you and Vegeta. I was hoping you'd entertain me more." Piccolo watches grimly from God's Shrine. Bulma, "Has Trunks won already?" Piccolo, "Cell's Perfect form... It's incredible... He's going to be killed!" Bulma, "What?"

Cell still has yet to blast Trunks. "There's one more question I'd like to ask. Even though I have won, both you and Vegeta have powered up greatly in such a short time. How did you do it?" Trunks is silent. "No answer? I'll change the question, then. If you had more time, could you get even stronger?" Trunks is surprised by his question, but still doesn't answer. "Well?" Trunks, "How would I know? I'd have to try. Why did you ask?" Cell, "So it's possible... My next question... What is Son Goku doing? Why hasn't he shown himself?" Trunks, "Goku's training to defeat you! He'll come tomorrow to fight you. I can count on him to defeat you! I'm sure he will!" Smiling, Cell replies, "Good answer. Well then... Let's have a martial arts competition." Trunks, "Ma... 'Martial arts competition'?" Cell, "It will be held in ten days. I'm doing you a favor. Get stronger and entertain me." Trunks, "What in the world are you talking about?" Cell, "You may not know this, but there's a competition called the Tenkaichi Budokai. I want to remake it. However, I will be the only opponent. We'll fight one on one, and if I win, I'll fight the next person. I don't care how many of you there are. Gather as much as you can, and you may just win through sheer numbers. I'll let you know the place soon. Maybe I'll do it through a TV broadcast." Trunks, "What are you saying?" Cell, "Looks like I won't be bored anymore. You'd better bring lots of senzu." Cell turns to leave. Trunks, "Wait! Why are you doing this? What's your ultimate goal? I don't understand! Are you trying to conquer Earth? Or maybe all of space?" Cell, "I'm doing this contest to test my strength and terrorize people. And it will help to build up my power. I don't have an 'ultimate goal', nor am I interested in conquest. There's no point to killing Son Goku, though that's why I was made. Perhaps my goal then, is to enjoy myself... I want to see the fear on people's faces." And right then, such fear crosses Trunks' face. "That's right... Just like you." That said, he flies off, leaving a bewildered Trunks behind.
