And the Terror Becomes Reality... Number 17 and Number 18 Awaken

Vegeta and Trunks continue on toward the laboratory. Vegeta still ignores his following son. Trunks, "He's so stubborn." He flashes back to a few minutes prior. Piccolo, "I see. First we must go there and damage Number 17 and Number 18 before Dr. Gero starts them." Vegeta, "I won't be such a coward. I must eliminate them with my own hands." He goes on like this, apparently unaware that Super Saiya-jin doesn't give you an automatic Get Out of Jail Free card. Trunks, "No way. You've underestimated the Artificial Humans. We must destroy them before they're started." Vegeta laughs and then Trunks comes back to the present. "Goku's still suffering from heart disease. We have to wait for Goku-san to get back." Vegeta, "I'm the prince of the Saiya-jin. I can't stand to be equal as a low-class fighter like Kakkarotto. I'm the Super Saiya-jin of all Super Saiya-jin, even for Number 17 and Number 18. I will make them just another piece of metal."

Son Goku fights Dr. Gero, easily gaining the upper hand on the artificial human. Gero, "It is too late now. All of you have to die." He laughs maniacally and all that as a darkness descends on Son. Goku breaks through and hits him, though, putting an end to the laughing. Goku suddenly grips at something around his neck as one of the formless Artificial Humans that he saw in his mind's eye before meeting up with the real ones arrives. "I've never seen such a strange fellow... such a strange fellow. Goku struggles against the Artificial Human's hold on his neck, but is unsuccessful. Chichi, "Goku-san! Goku-san!" Son Goku struggles with nothing as his worried wife, Chichi, and Yamucha sit on either side of him and try to wake him up. "Goku-san!" Yamucha, "Goku, hold on!" Chichi, "Goku-san... it's alright. Goku-san! You're just having a nightmare." Yamucha opens his hand, holding the little medicine capsule in the palm. "Goku... please hurry and get better." Chichi, "Goku-san..."

Piccolo, Kuririn, and Tenshinhan speed north, searching for Dr. Gero's lab. Piccolo yells something about the North Capitol (sorry, but the subs on this episode are exceptionally bad... I wouldn't even call this a D fansub). Kuririn, "I see it!" Piccolo, "Where's Vegeta?" Kuririn answers with something that the damned fansubber blurred to hell and back.

Vegeta and Trunks fly through mountains and forest. Vegeta, "When will you stop following us? Get away. You're making me sick." Trunks, "That's not possible. You want to fight with the Artificial Humans." Vegeta, "What do you plan to do? Will you go so far as to strike at me in order to stop the Artificial Humans?" Trunks, "Maybe. If I have to. I've told you many times. You've underestimated Number 17 and Number 18." Vegeta, "I'll be more interested to fight with them. I'm a pure Saiya-jin. But where is Dr. Gero's lab?" Trunks mutters something to himself.

Yajirobe, "Gohan, haven't you reached your home yet? I'm very tired." Bulma yells at him. Gohan, "I'm fine." Bulma, "Yajirobe, did you hear what he said? Gohan is such a great person. When Trunks grows up, I hope he'll be like Gohan." Gohan, "You've already seen how Trunks will grow up." Bulma, "Right. He's very handsome." Yajirobe, "Can we trust him?" Gohan, "Bulma-san!" Bulma, "It's Yajirobe." And the four of them suddenly fall. They get back into the air. Yajirobe, "He's Bulma's son, for sure, but it's hard to believe that he's Vegeta's son." Bulma, "What? I'll tell Vegeta." Yajirobe, "Forget it, Bulma-sama!" Gohan is unsubbed... then Bulma is unsubbed... and then Yajirobe is unsubbed. At least this is all happening in an unimportant scene, right? The rest of the scene is unsubbed, so just to let you know, they all continue flying for a while and talk about Trunks. From what little I can pick out, it looks like they're talking about Trunks coming from the future to warn of Goku's sickness, the Artificial Humans, etc. At the end of the scene, they speed up and Yajirobe falls off Gohan's back. I'll come back through this episode and put all the dialogue in correctly when the DVD for this episode comes out. Sorry.

Tenshinhan, "Dr. Gero's lab is in a cave of a hill nearby." Ten, Kuririn, and Piccolo stand on a bluff overlooking the North Capitol. Kuririn, "The north is so cold." Ten turns to Piccolo. "Can you find it? We're surrounded by hills. Maybe he can feel our ki, but we can't feel his." Piccolo, "We have to split up and look for him. Anyone who discovers will give others a sign." Kuririn, "What should be the sign?" Piccolo, "You'll raise the ki immediately." A cold wind sweeps in. "You're right." Kuririn is frozen, encased in ice for a moment before he breaks out. "It's so cold! I need some thick clothes." Ten, "Try to handle it. I'm cold, too." Piccolo, "If we don't hurry, Number 17 and Number 18 will be started any time." Tenshinhan, "Alright, let's split up. It's about the future of all people on earth." Kuririn, "Wait a minute." Ten, "You still worried that you're cold?" Kuririn, "No. Let me give you the senzu." Ten, "Alright." Kuririn, "There's six of them. There's three of us. Two times three is six. That means each of us will get two." Piccolo, "I didn't want to use it to best them." All three Z Senshi power up and fly off in different directions.

Dr. Gero watches them from the ground. "But they're here. They won't be able to find my lab so easily. Be my guest and go look for it." He runs to his lab. "I'll kill you guys very soon." He starts to fly when his sensor goes off and he sees a random passerby standing nearby. Man, "Oh no, I made a mistake. Are you hurt?" Gero stretches his arm out. A quick ki blast alerts Kuririn, who flies to the scene. When he gets there, though, Gero is already gone. "What's the matter?" The man, "What a strange old man..." Kuririn, "Dr. Gero? Where is he?" The man points off in the direction that Gero went. "Alright." Man, "Hey, don't leave me alone!"

Dr. Gero jumps from ledge to ledge on his way home. He talks to himself as he goes. He keeps jumping, then his sensor goes off and he stops. He throws a blast, and once again, Kuririn sees it. "There!" He flies off toward the explosion. Dr. Gero lands and his sensor goes off. He looks up to see someone racing across the sky. "Kuririn!"

Kuririn, "It's too brutal." He surveys the damage. He notices something and runs over. "The footprints of Dr. Gero. There!" He jumps up to go find Dr. Gero, but Gero finds him. Dr. Gero attacks Kuririn and beats on him pretty well. Dr. Gero lands a few feet in front of Kuririn. "What a troublesome nobody! Your kind of energy is useless to me." Kuririn stands up. "Damn... don't you dare look down upon me." Dr. Gero starts to move around, his sensor goes off, and he sees Piccolo flying nearby. "It's Piccolo. I don't have to do it myself." He says flies away. Kuririn falls to his knees. "We must let everybody know. But I'd better go and find the lab first."

Dr. Gero finally arrives at a stone wall. "Here! You're finally here." He jumps up onto a ledge above that wall and into a cave. At the back of the cave is a huge, solid metal double door. He walks toward the door, then his sensor goes off. He turns around and there's Kuririn, looking right at him. "I've found it! Tell the others now." Dr. Gero, "You want to tell your friends? But it's too late now. You're the only ping." He walks up to the door and his some buttons on a keypad. The giant double doors swing open. Kuririn, "Hurry up! Ask them to come here." He powers up and yells out to them. Tenshinhan and Piccolo feel his ki and turn in that direction. Vegeta and Trunks feel it, too. "This ki..."

Inside the lab, the lights turn on and Dr. Gero grabs something. There are large white tanks with a single bubble window all over the place, vertical against the walls, horizontal on the floor... Dr. Gero walks over to the tank that has a large "17" painted on the front. "If possible, I won't start them. But since it's come to this point, there's nothing else I can do." He opens the tank. Someone steps out. The figure wears blue tennis shoes, green socks, and blue jeans. He wears a black shirt and a red scarf around his neck. He has shoulder length black hair and the Red RIbbon Army logo is stamped on the shirt's left breast. "Number 17, are you awake?" The Artificial Human turns around, silent, and looks down at the controller in Dr. Gero's hand. "Good morning, Dr. Gero." Gero, "You're greeting me..." Number 17, "Of course. You're like my parent." Dr. Gero hits the button on another tank marked "18." It opens up, revealing a young blonde girl wearing a blue denim jacket with white sleeves. Under her jacket is a black shirt." She steps out of the tank, looking first at Number 17, then at Dr. Gero and the controller in his hand. "Good morning, Dr. Gero." Gero, "You're greeting me, too." Number 18, "Of course." Dr. Gero, "It seems both of them are fixed." Number 18, "You've become an Artificial Human, too?" Gero, "Because I want to live an immortal life. To be honest, I'm relieved now. Because most of your parts are operating by everlasting energy furnace and a lot of energy, so I couldn't control you smoothly. You didn't listen to my instructions very well. You must listen to me this time. Work for me now. Son Goku's friends will be here very soon. Kill them all. Each and everyone one of them." Number 18 agrees to do so, then Number 17 agrees to it, too.

Piccolo and Tenshinhan join Kuririn. "That's Dr. Gero's lab." Ten, "Kuririn, good for you." Piccolo, "Good. Before he's back, let's destroy the Artificial Humans." Kuririn, "But..." Tenshinhan, "What's the matter, Kuririn?" Kuririn, "Dr. Gero is back already." Ten, "What?" Kuririn, "I'm sorry." Piccolo, "Hurry up! What should we do now? We're too late."

Dr. Gero, "A bunch of the idiots are here. It's your turn to fight them." They stare silently at the controller in Gero's hand. Outside, the Z Senshi struggle against the metal door. Kuririn pushes at it and Tenshinhan keeps ramming it with his shoulder. Kuririn, "The door is so sturdy." Piccolo, "Step aside. Let me break it." Vegeta, "Good for you to find this place." They turn around. Inside, Dr. Gero chuckles. Number 17 suddenly swipes the controller from him. Dr. Gero, "Number 17, what are you doing?!" Number 17, "This is the control button to stop us in case of emergency. Just in case. But it's useless now." He crushes it in his hand. "You've got to be kidding!" Number 17, "Can I stand to sleep when I don't know how long? You, this old bastard." Piccolo stretches out his arm to blast open the door. Vegeta, "If you destroy the Artificial Humans, I won't let you get away with it." Trunks, "No! You don't know how scary they are." Vegeta, "Shut up!" Dr. Gero, "Number 17, I want no more of this silly joke! Destroy the enemies at the door." The Z Senshi hear 20 and Piccolo suddenly stops. Kuririn, "The Artificial Humans have been started already!" Vegeta stretches out his arm. "Go away, damn it." Trunks, "No! Anyway, let's leave this place! Let's wait until Son Goku-san is better!" Vegeta, "There's no need for that!" He blasts the door open. Number 17 and Number 18 turn to see the visitors. "A scarf around his neck. A young man with black hair. That must be Number 17. Number 18 is a lovely young girl." As that is said, the "camera" moves across the crowd of Z Senshi, showing them all as they stare into the lab. Vegeta, "It matches with Trunks' description. There should be no mistake." The Artificial Humans stand in the lab, arms crossed, examining their first opponents...
